how many plug wires does that engine have?
is there any writing on it in japanese? not just on the accesories like alternator or ac compressor.
is the car driving now?
is it really from subaru of japan or just a company that uses fuji in its name?
did you buy it directly from japan or through an importer in the US?
i dont think you are making this all up i just want to understand what the hell is going on.

havent been on in a while sorry....btw i have no reason to make up a bunch of crap to a bunch of people i dont know .......but anyway i took my car down to a local shop that specializes in rare/exotic/euro/jdm cars and i let the mechanic look at it. he is a certified porsche tech. and he knew right away that the engine wanst porsche (4cyl anyway). also unter close inspection he found that the engine code must have been filed or ground off, however it appears that it was never cast in the first place. but he did figure out that it was origionally intended to be a 2.2l twin turbo but was changed to single and finally changed by myself to n/a. No clue what the story on this engine is.....no idea what it was orgionally made for...but all i really know is that it came out of a jdm car with an impreza/wrx body.....all im looking for on this site is answers and if you all dont want to help me because you think im full of shit then tell me so i can find another forum that will

4 plugwires.....of the small amount of writing on the car most seems to be english but thers a little of both.....drives just fine........the invoice said fuji heavy industries......i used an importer out of the west coast somwhere, my dad arranged all of that so i dont know much about it

Well, there is no impreza with twin turbos, not from the factory, not from STI. There are legacies....however, there are no 2.2 twin turbos made by subaru at all. The only 2.2 turbos are the legacy turbo 91-94 and the 400ish impreza 22b's. The 22b is a dohc, while the legacy turbo is a sohc.
That would probably be something you should check out, is it a quad cam?
How could the mechanic tell it was 2.2 and not a 2.0? Or that it originally was a twin turbo?
thanks

if you could take lots and lots of pictures all of this could be cleared up pretty fast, I think everyone would like to see more.

I still think Greensubie is just leading us around like idiots. He is probably a long time board members alter ego.

thank you. im uncertain as to the reputability of the importer you got this engine from. i can not imagine subaru not stamping an engine. i think you have been had. hope your parents didnt pay alot. this car must be a real dog if it was a turbo that was converted to n/a. it would have really low compression. who did the conversion?

So if its really a 2.2, and its really a sohc like you say, then this is a legacy turbo engine. But then it must be a single turbo, not twin. No IC right....maybe its just an NA 2.2? They are cheap and common, good to rip someone off with....Did they even use NA EJ22's in JDM models?

after it was all said and done the total was well in exess of $10k.....we had high comp pistons installed so its not tooo bad(still slow) the conversion was done by a subaru dealer near atlanta. because that was the closest one but one has recently opened up in the city about 10mins away

The swap was done by a Subaru DEALERSHIP?!?!?!?
Damn. . . that would explain the inflated costs, though. . ..

greensubie: you must understand how absolutely and completely ludicrous your story is. Seriously. The idea that Subaru would take a perfectly good turbo engine and convert it to N/A and ship it to you, is...well, retarded.

No dealer around here would even touch that job with liability and warranty concerns.
