Are the ones with the metal tanks very rare?

If we say yes does that mean you'll charge us more?

Absolutely. Actually, I've been looking on e-bay and all I can usally find is the ones with plastic end tanks. I finally found a fully metal one, and bought it. It just seems like a rarity to me. I mean, who would buy the one with plastic end tanks? They are way more prone to leakage as well as looking like crud.

Actually I run one with plastic end tanks and it works and looks great.

Looks OEM to me. :)

Oh ya, I only paid $40 US to my door for it too

The ones with metal end tanks are not rare at all but are better and worth a little more then the ones with plastic end tanks. Now if you can find a full aluminum one that has 10 air channels instead of 16 then that is a rare Euro edition that's better then either the 16 channel full aluminum or 16 channel plastic end tank versions.

My plan now that I have my intake plumbing figured out is to wait until one of these Euro edition models pops up, buy it and just slide it on in, then sell my plastic end tank one later.

:D

$40 bucks. That's a damn good price. I feel violated now that I payed $70 shipped to my house for the all metal one.

Naw, $70 shipped is a pretty fair price for the all aluminum model. I wouldn't feel bad. :)

I agree, I love my plastic end IC. People are always asking me, "Whoa! I didn't know the Legacy came with an IC!" Hehe..

Yea, we've got a buddy down here who does custom exhaust work.

On a related note, I saw this thread on NASOIC @ http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... did=497300

SAAB 900 IC $30

Get it quick! A few more '93 Legacy Turbo parts, too. Gonna post this in the Parts Shed, too.

I have a 10 row plastic Saab IC on mine and i love it. I was wondering why mine looked different than the ones you all had here, is there any difference in performance (flow, cooling ability) between the two designs?

Hrmmmm.

By looking at those IC Pics, I'm starting to think that a saab 900 won't clear my strutbar...

I've got an STI replica one.

Yep that's the Euro model I was talking about :D . They flow better then the 16 channel ones like Magnux and I have. I didn't know that they had ones with plastic end tanks though. The only ones I've seen were all aluminum. Do you have any pics?

I'll take some pics today for you. It came off of a 92 or 95 (cant remember, i think it was a 95 though) Saab 900. I would think that the ones you guys have would flow less, but be more efficient because of the better cooling capacity of the more fins.

EDIT: Here is a pic of my intercooler setup:

The rest of the pics of my car are in the picture gallery.

How are you guys connecting from the turbo to IC inlet? Is that an elbow that angles back too or are you moving the turbo somehow? I really want to try this provided the correct parts are at any parts place.

Tonflo, You can buy a radiator hose from Pep Boys (part #E70664), that has a perfect bend in it. Then a straight piece of 2" exhaust pipe. You trim both of those, and it's a near perfect fit w/a Saab 900 IC.

91-White-T: thanks, haven't seen (or heard) you on campus lately. I don't have a pepboys around here. Western Auto, NAPA, Advance Auto Parts, Big A. Do you know the car that hose is for, then I could ask for that? Is it an upper or a lower hose? Do I have to move the little electronic module mounted to the bracket on the firewall to clear the IC?

just so you know what it is, that electric module is your ignitor. :)

My car's a lot quieter now, but I'm still around :D As for that hose, I dunno, I just picked it out for the bend it had, maybe it has the same part# at other stores too?

hey 91white-t, do you think you could post a pic of your hood with the scoop? I've ordered one and am getting it color-matched to my car, but still have no idea what is involved in mounting it! There used to be a picture guide on here but the pics have turned to red x's and I think the guy who posted them is in iraq...
