Went to drive Forrester XT, drove Baja Turbo on accident

Well, sorta.
I got there fully expecting to just drive the XT, but they had them both on the floor. When I got to looking at Baja, I started to really like it. Without the two tone it looks pretty good on the outside, my stomach stayed down so that's good, and the interior is a smidge nicer than the XT to my eyes. I drove the blue, which i think is the only true one tone turbo.

So we take it around the block. I gotta say this thing is pretty fun to drive. When driving it has the visual cues of a truck. It reminded me alot of my old datsun pickup, high narrow hood and a tailgate in the rearview. It rides like a car though.... a pretty darn fast car. Almost sports car like. That engine is sweet, there's just no two ways around it. It handles very well. The trans-fixation of truck-like visual cues upon sporty car driving dynamics is what this thing all about, and it is interesting. The shifter was alright but icing on the cake would have been the STI six speed.

They wouldn't let me drive the Forrester today, they got busy after we got back and he knew that I wasn't buying today. They said I'd have to come back, which is understandable. It would have been nice to have a comparison though.

So there, one person who likes the Baja. Don't know if I'll buy or not, not quite ready to be branded as the Baja guy (an acquaintance I know owns Aztec, she's called "the Aztec girl"), but I like it.

HAHAHA . . . . c'mon! It's the "New Brat!" ;)

I've sat in the Baja at in Carter's showroom, and I've been very impressed with how things are laid-out. The midgate works pretty darn well, too. . . . I could see myself getting a fair amount of use out of it, but as people have said about the Baja:

It's a great jack of all trades. . . . just doesn't do any one particular thing exceptionally well. :)

Yeah, I agree with that statement doing no one thing really well. Of the bat I would have to get a snugtop hard cover for the back so i could put my groceries back there without getting wet.

Then I would have figure out if my motorcycles wheelbases will fit in the back. I've seen that pic where they' got a dirtbike in the back, but I'm not sure if streetbikes will fit. Maybe I can make a little extension. Sorry, thinking in print.

Here that pic:

if it had only been two seats like the brat it would've sold me methinks. Much better portability, that and if they'd've kept the supercharger in there dammit.

Make that bridge smaller and take out the Baja and you have the view out my front door.
