Mmmmm...2.35 litre EJ22G build up with 2.5 STI heads. Warning: it's a long read.

Haha, Whatever. It's a monster Subaru engine and it stokes me. It also sounds like these guys will build them for others so you could buy one and drop it in our cars too.

I hear talk of doing this same thing here but just because someone else did it and is dropping it in a WRX instead of a BC-BF it makes them a jerk? Sorry but I don't see it that way. Why all the hate on the new gen guys anyways? I love that the whole WRX craze has hit. It has created excitement in Subaru again and flooded the market with lots of performance parts where as before it was very slim pickings. Without it we wouldn't have gotten the WRX/STI or the Forester XT and wouldn't be getting the Legacy GT and hopefully the Legacy STI  . I think it's to our benifit in the long run.

I can get down with all the VW hate, GM bashing ect... But I love ALL Subaru. It's a Subaru engine and it's a monster. Hell, I'd take one in a heartbeat. I don't know.... call me crazy.

Just my .02

The problem is that the EJ22T block is a rare/scarce commodity. Do you think subaru has made any new ones recently? They havnt. Thats why only a few are released every year. Now that we are 10 years out from the turbo legacy they have no obligation. They could melt the remaining units down if they wanted.

I dont want to wish bad luck on you but lets say something happened to your engine and you needed a new block. How would you feel if it wasnt available because of builders like this?

They hate I have for new gen guys is towards those who dont give a rats ass about subaru (many). They are only after whats hot/cool/different at the moment. Next year they could be all over a Mitsubishi or Toyota.

If the recieving party of the built engine had owned another prior to his WRX then I would be just as excited as he is to know how the engine works out.

Right on ciper, I can see your point. I know they are rare and that new blocks are even rarer. It will be a sad day when it's not possible to get new EJ22G blocks anymore.

Like you said though, Subaru could in theory melt down the remaining blocks if they wanted to and if that happened then the more that get bought and put on the road prior to that the better, right? I mean this guy and others like him could melt a piston and change direction in their build up efforts and sell the EJ22G block to one of us only slightly used, who knows.

It's not that I'm excited because it's going in a rex, I would much rather see it going in a BC-BF, it's that it's something that's been discussed here and it's now been done and is producing very good numbers, that's all.

at least it's still going into a subaru right? There's much worse places it could go.

true that, you could be just as mad at air plane builders, theyre using quite a few nice scooby 2.2's

Not really though, they are using EJ22NA from wrecked cars. They would have been scrapped if the airplane guys didnt use it. I have only seen ONE EJ22T airplane.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use an ej22t in an airplane? The turbo would keep the power at a higher elevation, or are we talkin like lwoer flying(less than 1000 feet) planes?

ciper, I couldn't agree with you more. I've encountered way too many wrx nutswingers around here. These are the same wannabes that end up parading around like the subaru (insert car here) is the best car there is and all other cars are crap:

"it's just a neon."

"it's just a honda (when he/she probably just traded in his/her civic for it)."
