Is is me or have some of the replies to posts been rather rude? I mean when I first joined this site I was overwhelmed at the quick, polite, mature, and informative replies that I was reading. Now it seems as thought I need to navigate through a sea of crap just to find an educated responce. When did giving your opinion on something become so complicated? Perhaps the moderators have a way of "weeding out" some of the bad apples in the bunch befroe this whole site is fouled.

I agree with you, Mike.

Maybe we just need to define clearly the purposes of these forums. The way I've always approached them is as if they exist to allow many people of equal importance with disjoint sets of knowledge to pool their knowledge. Some information will contradict other information, but if it's all put together, everyone can make an educated decision on what to believe. I understand that some people can be considered more qualified than others on particular topics but I also remember the koan about the cup of tea ( http://www.nozen.com/cupoftea.htm ).

What do others think? How do you look at the BBS?

I totally agree with you. That is one of my favorite things about this forum. I have noticed some very rude and condescending responses lately. I alway enjoy reading everyone's posts and getting so much info from everyone. I think it is just a particular individual lately that I have noticed in at least two different forums. I finally had to respond. Let's keep this forum true to the foundation that it was formed upon. Kind of like a bunch of friends from all over the country and world that get together to share knowledge and experiences for everyone's benefit.

I'm here to help you guys. If there is a specific person that you feel is the root of these responses (aside from myself of course), i'd like you to pm Josh or myself and we'll keep tabs on said people.

I agree that the root of this forum is fun. It should always stay that way, and i'm here to make that happen.

This thread makes me feel part of a great group of people. I enjoy this forum more than any other forum because of the people that are here. Everyone is more mature than the average i-Club/Nasiocer. Let's keep in hospitable guys!

I couldn't agree more and although I may not be the most informed member on this forum and ask lots of questions I truly look forward to getting home and checking the threads daily.Lately I've noticed aggressive attitudes and am trying not to let them influence me.Control your troll as I say.I don't think I have been offensive to anyone but if I have let me be the first to say sorry.I have learned a lot on this forum and it is by far the best early legacy forum going.It would be a shame to let a few spoil it for so many.Maybe a polite nudge would do the trick.

Ditto what Jason said. If there is an issue/problem with a particular individual/thread, pm one of us.

I'm sitting here at my home comp at 4am in Sydney, Australia and am a member of quite a few online Subie clubs.

Even now I have read, as you describe it so well, many instances of rude and condescending behaviour from many of those clubs.

It's a worldwide thing and leaves me dismayed at times.

At a recent Rally, Subaru of Australia had a picture shoot of all Subies attending. On previous years only the WRX/STI cars were invited. This year many of them would not participate as many openly were hostile to any non-turbo or even recreational turbo (FORESTER) models being in the same pic.

Go figure?.

As much as I don't get a lot of time to read your forum I am going to make the time in future as I too find you a great bunch.

As long as the core group is good then the bad apples will soon remove themselves out by their very actions.

I'd just like to ad to b44jd's comments about the turbo guys: I've also noticed that the new generation of WRXers in this country have a similar attitude which I find very discouraging whether online or out in the street. I was a Subaru fan smoking VWs and some BMWs with old GLs (73 rated hp!) before any of them ever heard of Playstation where they found out about the WRX (I have a picture of me as a kid around 1989 sitting in one of the speed record setting Legacies at a local dealer a friend of the family owned). Part of the problem with the lack of appreciation of Japanese cars in general stems from the fact that nobody acknowledges their past while the Europeans are perceived to be so superior because they keep cramming their accomplishments down everyone's throat (Bentley until this year, anyone?). I would like to try to organize a classic to modern Japanese car day (like the Euros have) with the Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline, but I'm afraid of the Pep Boys crowd I'd likely get.

This board and our cars tend to stay off the radar to those who are new to Subaru's. The people that we attract are those that have a fondness for Subaru's and/or those that tend to be very knowledgable about Subaru's turbocharging past.

Huh? Be more specific. The air on the board is much better than that little rough patch we hit.

And if this is regarding my discussion with Vrg3 about NA vs. Turbo... it's a friendly discussion where each is playing the devil's advocate. Someone reading it gets to consider each side and make their decision about which route they want to go. There is no name calling. Anyways, I don't see it. Unless it's in some auto tranny threads, I don't follow those very often. .

He may be referring to my "Everyone should see this thread". For the record I wasn't trying to start anything. I had an emotional reaction to the link and thought I would share it. Sorry if I made anyone uncomfortable or angry with the link. My intentions were pure and in no way was I trying to start a political flame war. Again, sorry to anyone that may have been offended.
If that's not what you were referring to...well, I'm still sorry the thread caused trouble.

Id rather we have political discussions then live in fear and hatred of not being able to voice our opinions.

As long as the atmosphere remains accepting and open-minded, without flame, hatred, or disgust; then there is no harm from a little political banter - AS LONG AS it is well placed.

I don't often have a serious political standpoint, as such, i like to listen to other people feelings on different issues. These different points of view help me refine my image of a situation (unless we're talking about california. california sucks).

So i say go ahead with the discussion. Its about as productive as my stupid battle polls but requires a lot more thinking to come up with a logical standpoint.

I agree with many of the previous posts - this is the only bbs I check daily because (generally) there's a great bunch of friendly people on it. Like some of the others I can enjoy a 'devil's advocate' discussion and if I find something that I struggle to deal with, well I just ignore it and read some other thread instead.

However, I too have noticed that there are some un-necessarily negative comments, particularly in relation to people posting pictures of their car. I think if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything! When someone has gone to a lot of time and trouble (and money!) to make their car look the way they want it then don't just pick holes in it because it's not what YOU would have done. That's why you have a car of your own...

Obviously some of the pics are asking for such comment (like the wooden bodykit:shock: ) but in the main...

You administrators do a great job of keeping things nice - keep it up! And full marks to all the nice guys out there too

I agree with the excellent people here, I feel "at home" here, I read threads daily, dont post daily, but allways check the forum daily, and from what I have read, I wouldnt mind meeting any of you, everyone seems to have the knowledge im trying for, I tried over at nasoic and was belittled for caring soo much about an "old" car......but i do.
I appreciate this forum more than anyother I frequent, and I sell pc hardware through 20+ forums but this is my hobby forum, its my little pet peeve

I agree with everybody, This forum has been my MAIN source of info of everything, except for good girl advice, that ive yet to find Lets stay the Elite group that owns BC-BF Legacy's NA and Turbo, Sleepers and non-sleepers. and if you don't feel like your part of an Elite group you should cause our cars RULE!!!

I agree... This is not Nasioc OT where you are free to insult one another.

Keep it to what we are here for - helping each other, not downright insulting one another.

Differing points of view should be intelligently presented, rather than in my 250,000 years of doing this it is right, and there is no other way.

Honestly, making insulting comments about another person's car or thier opinion on a subject only makes you look immature and foolish.

Let's get back on track, and let the kiddies play on Nasoic.
