I smogged my car yesterday, and had some aprehension because of my exhaust system. But, to my great pleasure, the guy just looked the car over, plugged in the sniffer and the car passed with flying colors!
3" turbo-back with a cat.

I talked to a mechanic, and he said that our cars are some of the cleanest burning cars. He seldomly sees a legacy of our generation fail. Another guy I know passes smog all the time with a 3 inch turbo back with only a high-flow cat. California emissions too.

My N/A easily passed our horrendous MA dyno-run emissions test with over 200K on all original equip. Lots of fingers crossed that day, though.

I have also heard what georryan speaks of. "These subarus rarely fail emissions, Ive only failed one and it was on the visual portion" is what I heard.

I don't think the Subaru passing emissions deal has anything to do with it being the cleanest burning. It's because they can't put our cars on those pesky little rollers and try to ruin our tranny. The sniffer test with them idling the car at 2500 rpm or whatever puts no load on the engine. Ciper or someone will have to help me on this, but under those conditions it probably uses a part of the fuel map that is around stoich.

I agree on that one, but they do have some 4 wheel dino's down in Cali.

Mine is FWD, and it's been on the dyno and passed fine. I haven't had it tested in a long while, but will probably have to in the next few months. It'll be interesting to compare the results of past tests vs. the new one.

Yeah, let us know how you fair. If you like I can pull out my smog certificate from when my car got smogged almost a year ago. The previous owner smoogged it so I really didn't look at it, I'm curious how it did now that I mention that.
