Fuel Consumption

I have just purchased a 1992 2.0ltr Turbo Legacy Saloon. While I feel it is a great car I'm quite concerned about the low fuel consumption (15 mpg under very light throttle, town driving). Anyone know the Goverment MPG fiqures for these cars? Any feed back would be most appreciated.

Many thanks MrC.

Not sure how much the UK 2.0ltr Turbo Legacy differs in mileage figures from the U.S. 2.2ltr Turbo Legacy, my 2.2ltr averages around 18mpg around town and 24mpg on the highway.

Hi guys.

I get about 23-24 in town and around 28-29mpg on a run. I'm not particularly light-footed and make the most of the acceleration!

Does that help?

Cheers guys sounds like mine is a bit on the thirsty side then, 23-24 I can live with, 15 I cannot, I'd dread to think what it would do if I was making the most of its accelleration!

Marcus, if I was you I'd be taking the car to my mechanic and getting it checked over. I'd have to be lead-footed and drive everywhere in 3rd gear to get down to 15mpg...

May have something to do with the gas you are using.

If it's bad gas (watered down), or winter gas, you'll suffer major mileage losses.

During the summer my 95 N/A Legacy 4EAT got 23/24 daily commute and 30 highway. Right now, I get around 25 or so highway and 17/18 city.

Thanks Rob for your replies they are much appreciated.
I have only had the car a couple of weeks and thought I had a fuel leak but everything looks fine. I put £20 (5.2 gallons) of Shell's finest Optimax in the tank, took it real steady and managed to get 81 miles out of it which averages at 15.57 miles to the gallon. On what you have told me I will get it booked in to our local garage and see if they can come up with anything.

Do you know of any UK club for the Legacy?

Thanks once again

Marcus.

In my sedan and wagon I get 21mpg at 95mph, including full throttle run on the onramps and 3 out of ten miles city. Both are non turbo.

On a full tank driving on freeway only ranging from 75-95 with going 95 for over an hour straight I got 24.8 mpg. That's on a turbo. All said and done I think that is worse than ciper's, but pretty good none the less.
