Where's the WRC champion commercials?

Sometimes I wonder about SOA's marketing dept. The new WRX commercials are the same as the older ones, same scenes with the 04’s inserted. My other passion is cycling, and as you can guess by my presence on this board I like Subaru’s too. So the Lance Armstrong commercials are targeting ME, and I’m tired of them…very tired of them. :x So why the hell would Subaru not market their World Championship with Solberg. Does SOA really think that showing the WRC car on the podium won’t sell more blue WRXs, am I missing something?

I totally agree. Especially where they scored the Driver's Championship with far less a budget and less cars than the French teams (even cars that don't count for points can at least serve to take points positions away from competitors' cars).

I want my 6 Time WRChampions with laurel wreath sticker like Lancia had for their Integrales.

They show commercials like that all over the world too! Every time I've been to Europe I'd get giddy when a Subaru commercial comes on. It's like a 30 second recap of Subaru WRC footage. Absolutely awesome. It would get so many Americans into rally if they just saw how amazing it can be in a 30 second clip. Not to mention the recognition Subaru would get. Hello....SOA....... :?

I don't know, Americans love NASCAR

Then again, I think they watch it to see people crash so maybe they could enjoy rallying. Packaging it for spectators and television is the real hurdle, though.

Definitely, but the new WRC format of WRC coverage on Speed is pretty viewer friendly. Rally just needs more exposure to the masses. The problem is that WRC isn't covered on a major network :? I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Comcast dropped Speed Channel up here last year. The first interesting F1 season after putting up with a Ferrari parade for years and the bastards drop it! And Subaru wins the Driver's title  $70/month isn't enough, I guess. And they wondered why I cancelled. Oh, but they did have 2 golf channels

I have no idea why these bastards won't program the digital cable by station and you pay/channel. Then they'd have no excuse to overcharge for the claimed high prices for broadcasting rights to stations people don't watch. All I want is five stations. Rant over...

One word...

DirecTV!!!

It's the shit. 39.99/mo. Take it wherever you go and you don't have to wait for the damn cable people to come "hook up the cable".

Isn't that that little dish? I rent the bottom floor of a house and would have nowhere to put it - otherwise I would.

There's no place to put even thet. I have a sidewalk and the town wouldn't be happy and someone may vandalize it.

I saw a video of a Legacy2.5GT pulling a Mervedes and BMW in a tug of war on ice. That's the kind of stuff they should show. A dealer around here used to sell cars in the winter by sending people up a very steep hill across the street. Apparently a lot of SUVs couldn't make it up. Said he never lost a sale with that demo.

Ive seen people put them on the front door step of an apartment.

You've got windows right? Ive see people mount it on a board and stick it out the window with a sandbag holding the other end and plastic covering the opening.

I think your not trying hard enough.

Or you can just talk to your landlord and put it up on the roof. A long cable through a window will solve the location problem. I initially had it on my porch/balcony and the reception wasn't great. I asked the property management company if I could put it up on the roof and they didn't have any problem with it. The apartment manager even let me go up on the roof and install it myself :D Where there's a will, there's a way.

Aside from racing, Sopranos, and American Chopper I have no real use for TV, so its not a big deal. Even if it was, if I took pictures of this weird old house with no yard and a tight driveway for the other tennants you'd see what I mean about not being able to do anything. The front porch is narrow and is shared as the mailboxes are there and I sit on the 1st of 3 floors. My front windows are on the sidewalk. I appreciate the suggestions anyway.

Hmmm... I like NASCAR, and I'll tell you why, the level of competition is incredible, where else can you see 43 cars bouncing off each other at ~200mph? Don't get me wrong I like rally but somehow its just not the same to see one car on the screen at all times, what's the point of just racing the clock for days at a time. Granted it's pretty amazing how they can drive those rally cars, but I don't think many people understand just how hard it is to control a 3400lb 800hp RWD car at almost 200mph for 4 hours straight. Ok, I'm done ranting now.... :D

While you make excellent points, I just can't sit through more than a few mins of left hand turns. I'm not trying to bash nascar, but I need a little variety in the courses :) I'm more of a track fan than rally myself. I adore watching the gt series on speed.

There are plenty of things that are hard to do that I don't want to watch. To each their own, but I like my racing to have more relation and relevance to real cars. Maybe if Tauruses or the Monte Carlo were rwd V8s.
