That resists engine heat. Anyone know of such a product?

I've tried EVERYTHING under the sun for attaching my intercooler hose to my intercooler inlet port. The problem is that the intercooler port is trapered (thinner towards the end, so the silicone hose has the tendency to slip off. I've tried sanding the port with rough grit sandpaper . . . didn't work. I tried T-bolt clamps . . . didn't work. I was thinking about melting the ends to try and form a lip, but I have nothing that will soften up the plastic (it's pretty darn thick).

So my last option is to permanently affix the hose to the inlet. I looked at that goop stuff, but it doesn't list silicone as one of its uses.

Any ideas?

Create a lip on the end of the tube with epoxy.

saw a preview of it of them at the sema show.....will pretty much bond anything to anything. They cut a rubber belt......then used this stuff to bond it, and had a guy stand on one end and pull on the other....

I'm kinda confused as to what the problem is. You have the early wrx IC with the single entry? I thought the IC pipe bolts to the underside/back of the IC? I can't think how you could attack silicon pipe...

Its stinks that the link to the picture of the MRT early wrx IC on that page is dead...I'd like to see it, might be a good albeit expensive option for our cars...

You could try Goop anyway... It actually has a silicone base.

Or maybe you could use a tailpipe expander and a heat gun to put a little lip at the end of the pipe. Then the hose clamp could go past that lip.

czo79, when Adam installed the samco hose, he cut the plastic intake elbow from before that brass piece on your MRT alloy pipe.See how the intake pipe narrows before that brass piece? THat's why it keeps sliding off.

I really want to just swap the intercooler out rather than try these makeshift bandaids. I'm just too fed up!!

Plus, by BOV is leaking. I'm getting almost no boost. I can hear the turbo spooling but there's no positive pressure buildup in the manifold. I imagine it's a combination of both the bov and crappy sealing post turbo.

Checked all vaccum lines, no leaks.

Why did Adam do that?? The pipe would have attached perfectly to the TD05 turbo, no?

I have no idea why he did it. He probably had this samco hose lying around and was like, "hmmm, maybe this will work?"

Now I've got to figure out what to do about this.

I think you should really try the tailpipe expander and heat gun idea. I know the plastic is really thick and rugged but it just might work enough.

yea definitly blow at it with a heat gun and spread it out slowly. use plenty of heat though because you dont want to crack it with the expander. you should be able to spread it right out with a little bit of time and work.
