Hi,

What could be the best location to put a EGT probe ?

1 - UpPipe : Near the engine, but may be dangerous for turbo if anything breaks.

2 - DownPipe / Near O2 Sensor : Not so far from source, can be used to analyse O2 Sensor, Not dangerous for turbo... but readings may be lower.

3 - ???

Neither of the two!

As close to cylinder three as possible!!!

Yup. 4-6 inches from the flange on cylinder #3 (passenger side closest to the firewall)

You could have traced the spark plug wire (your coil pack is labeled)

Shoot for 1400 F or 750 C as your target maximum.

a reading that is not as accurate.

Or a reading that means nothing. At least the up pipe would give you an idea of combined temperature, which is also an unusual place to monitor.

I figured you would do the four way from that airplane place with a sensor for each cylinder. :D

Im really going to! I plan to get the larger version of the guage though, easier to read.

My current plan is to have my car turbo'd and running by august 1. Then I will install the 4 way EGT
