I have some Walbro questions...

Hey Guys,
So after pricing out a new factory EJ22T pump and finding it to be $350  I have decided the Walbro route is the way to go. I did a search but couldn't find a definitive answer on installation. The most info I found was from Morgie and his Holley pump(which a google search ahs led me to believe may be manufactured by Walbro)
Anyways, specifically I need to know if we just get the one that folks are selling for RS/WRX upgrades? If so, do we need to change any connectors to make it work, or is it strictly plug and play?

I have seen people say $109-129 for the 255 pump, but Teague's is selling them for $89 if in fact we can use the same one the RS's are using...

That is one of the threads my search brought up, but I didn't consider it definitive enough to go out and make a purchase, thus this thread. Plus my title will create a very searchable topci for future inquiries down the road. I must have read 20 threads last night and that one you linked was the best info I found...

Unfortunately, I didn't install it. I can, however, try and take a look back there to see how Adam installed it.

IIRC, when I was looking at the fuel pump assembly, it looked like the stock connector was left untouched.

I remember hearing that it is louder than stock and sti pumps...and its runs hotter, heats up the gas...
You guys ever run out of fuel during hard cornering? THeres the cool sti pump with the secondary tank to prevent that....

why dont u just get a 500hp pump there cheep 150bucks. take the factory one out, remove the old pump keep the unit that holds the factory pump in place. slide the new pump in, put the filter bag back on, hook 2 wires up, and get a huge thick thick tie strap and away u go best root to go. its a special for me, since i keep a spare one in the trunk. i have changed 4 or 5 them already.

From what I understand, the Walbro pump draws more current than the stock pump. The stock wiring is mediocre anyway, so it's probably a good idea to rewire with heavier-gauge wire when you upgrade the pump. I plan to do that when I install my Walbro pump.

Well,
I just broke down and bought this today. Joe at Flat4 seems to think it will drop right in, but I may have to snip off a little part of the clip that is not needed. I will post back once it is in, which should be sooner rather than later since I got canned today and have all kinds of time on my hands.

my job didn't go anywhere. And yes, this is the second job loss in four months. I will post a thread in the ashtray next week. I am leaving for Moab to blow off some steam and clear my head before I come back and look for a job :( and work on my project :D

And remember that wherever you go there you and that is exactly where you are supposed to be. See ya, I'm off to get slideways in Canyonlands.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, Matt.

If you want, I can drop by one night & we can pull out my walbro. When I installed it, I simply swapped the entire assembly (acces cover on down) from another car into mine. I didn't think the plugs were compatible, but I'm not 100% sure.
