What exactly do the subframe lock bolts thread into? I've wondered about that for a while.

The diff lock, it threads into nothing. Just the bushing goes into where the shaft of the bolt is on the rear diff carrier outrigeers and prevents monvent.
As far as teh subframe locks (which i haven't installed yet) they bolt just into the frame through the crossmember. The hole they go into is uncovered when you do a fwd to awd conversion.

Wait, the diff lock and subframe lock kits are different?
I thought they were the same thing:

Are you saying that the threaded holes that these go into are used on FWD vehicles but not ordinarily on AWD vehicles?

hmmm it says it could cause premature chassis wear.....yet everyone leaves it in.....

Yeah, the hole is normally already used when you are FWD, but AWD has the hole open.

MK - Ohh... Cool. But the ones you installed were the ones whose description I linked to, right?
Josh - Yeah, I was a little concerned about that too...
MK - What bolts into those holes on FWD models?

I installed the diff lock kit, the polyurethane bushings. I also bought the subframe bolts, but haven't installed them yet.
Normally the hole has one of the bolts for the rear crossmember.

Have you noticed a big increase in noise levels now that you've got the bushings installed? My brother put them on his 2000 2.5RS, and didn't really like them. Not sure if he took them out, but he has complained about the noise.

I had so much noise in cabin beforehand that i can't tell a difference with this kit.

Did you ever install the rear subframe lock bolts? I went to do it today and it seems like the bolts are too large...
