With the okay from my moms I've decided I want a second car. I'd like to get something I can work on and build up and keep sooby for daily driving. So far I'm pretty much set on a touring wagon, but I'm also considering some other cars. Here's the list so far:

92/93 Subaru SVX LS-L
87-89 Nissan 300ZX turbo
86.5-88 Pontiac Fiero GT
91/92 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4
88-93 Toyota Celica All-trac or GT-four
88-89 Toyota MR2 Supercharged or 90-95 MR2 Turbocharged
94-96 Volvo 850 turbo

If you've got something good or bad to say about any of them please speak. I dont really know much about the mitsu/toyota's so more info would be grand.

EDIT: forgot the volvo :)

I'd say dont go with a fiero. Those things are pains in the arse to work on. I've heard they have major coolant problems, and i forget exactly what but things are so packed in there that some have been known to catch fire  . My first choice though wold be a celica alltrac, second svx, 3rd galant. That's my two cents :)

Good luck with the supercharged MR2, the Volvo's will run forever and those Mitsubishi Galants are beautiful.

I saw keep it in the family and get another subaru.

I'm pretty much decided on the touring wagon, I just want to keep my options open if I can't find one when I'm ready to buy. So many people say no fiero, guess I should knock that down a few pegs :)

also i doubt an engine swap is doable.

The engine swap into a 240 is stupidly easy. Literally, pull the old engine/tranny and drop the new ones in. Pretty cheap, and pretty easy.

miata's are fun with some descent power. or how about a mrs spyder. I have seen them around 8-10 (that may be too much)
but an mrs spyder with a 3sgte
or even better yet with a complete sti transplant (ej257, 6 spd driveline, sure track diffs. oh sorrie. that is my dream

I looked at (and test drove) a Turbo Miata. 180whp, let me tell you that thing was a rocket. Way to small for my tastes though.

People have put all kinds of crazy engines in Fieros. I also read that every year ~30 men are sent to the emergency room by getting their 'equipment' mangled in vacuum cleaners.

You can always rebody the Fiero to look like a very unconvincing full-sized micromachine proportion exotic car.

every year in the us, approximately 5,000 people seriously injure themselves trying out new sexual positions

and about the engine swap, it's not the amount of work that's the problem, it's the lack of space.

I always wondered how really fat people had sex. Now I know they hurt themselves just as my calculations predicted - thanks Laurel!

HOLY CRAP! I have always wondered too.

I mean, I don't spend a lot of time thinking about really fat people (not your average overweight individual, but more the "can hardly stand up" people) having sex, but it was brought to my attention the other day.

Even now, it kind of freaks me out. I don't quite get how it would work in some of the more conventional positions without being extremely uncomfortable.
