BAC Bolster Mod Part 2...

I don't feel like opening my e-mail and sending Jason a mail, so I'll just start a new "bullshit free" Bolster Mod post.

Got the seats out this weekend to glue the padding to the stock bolsters. They are in a mid-point now where I just have to sit in them a ton to compact the foam and stretch the cover a bit. Then they will be sewn down to a wire run through the stock foam at the bolster crease.

This will give them an OEM look for the slimmer phisique.

While the seat actually looks flat now, it's not. The back is just stretched across the new bolsters. It sinks in when you sit down.

Here's the pics:

Bolstered on the left, stock on the right.

Back in the car.

Let me know what you think. I assure you that this is NOT the final product. The seat cover is not even attached underneath the seat yet. It is simply slipped on in a fashion not unlike a condom.

Excellent usage of the word "condom" Phil. Not every day you can use that word in a thread. :D

That turned out really nice, though!

[mr burns] Excellent. . . . [/mr burns]

Those are your stock seats? Shit you should sit n a 90's seat and see how well you're held in. I guess the good thing bout the earlier ones is we got velour :D But yeah I think The stock seat looks better.

Art - Thanks! I'm a lyrical genius.

Laurel - The lumpiness is thanks to the unattached bottom. Like I said, think condom. Not folded under at the base (I hope, lol), just sort of unrolled on there. Once things have settled and I have the covers sewn down, it will look just like stock.

Hardy - I've sat in a 91 and a 92, which should have the same seats as the 90. They didn't feel much different than my stock ones. Remember, I weigh 150 soaking wet. The stock seats were designed for your average, American (no Laurel, I am not calling you fat). The Velour feels nice, but the cloth is grippier, and my small frame tends to slide around a bit.

Total cost = $0.00

it looks as if the sides stick forward more than mine. Might just be the angle of the pics.

By sides, do you mean the bolsters? They are surprisingly deep, which is why I am doing this instead of getting 04 WRX seats.

Legacy board sex-schizophrenia strikes again

Back on topic:)

The bolsters don't look that bad, actually. I'd like to see them in person to get a better look. Hey Phil, are you in town this week? Matt and I are meeting up tomorrow.

I will be home Wednesday night for the rest of the week. Tomorrow is no good (I've got a Chem lab at 4 and an 8am class on wednesday).

I'll be home from Wednesday at around 2pm until Sunday night.

If you guys will be around on Wednesday, you can feel free to stop by. I'll probably be doing SOMETHING to the car (as I have been for the past 4 weeks now).

And no, it's not ribbed for her pleasure. It's ribbed for MY pleasure. I'll spare the female driver jokes, you all get the idea.

Thats pretty slick, i had similar things in mind.

My idea was to do the same thing but remove the actual seat back cover and put bolstering in there. Why didn't you do that?

That's exactly what I did...

Hrm, that's a pretty sneaky mod. The stock seats out of my 91 SS had crap for grip, I donno where the pro-stock people are getting their ideas from...I guess if you were a larger person they WOULD fit better, but I weigh like 160....

Whats wrong with being larger?!? I weigh 190 and, well, I guess my seats don't have much grip either. Those seats look like alot of work. How long did they take?

Maybe 20 minutes? Once the seats were out of the car it took almost no time.
