It looks like I have 2 replace 2 of my tires because of an uneven tread pattern - I had a double-blowout 2 years ago, so 2 of the tires are newer than the others.

I am considering putting Yokohama ES100's on my stock turbo wheels in size 205/55/15. Has anybody tried these? Would there be a problem putting 205's on 6" rims? Curious for any input.

PS. The current tires on the wheels are Yokohama Touring 195/60/15 that my father put on before I acquired the car. Very quiet, comfortable tires but my winter Yoko Guardex's handle better.

Oh yeah, is anbody familiar with hidden wheel balancing weights. I have been using my stock mechaninc for tire changes and storage but really am not thrilled with them. Last year they put circular scratches in each and everyone of my wheels - they don't use a touchless system. In addition, wherever they put the weights, the paint is ineveitably damaged.

as far as balancing, you mean the stick on weights that go in the inside of the rim? That's what every place i take mine to uses, i also make sure that they know they will pay if they scratch em.

Well, this is the story. All original 4 tires were purchased simoltaneously approx. 5 years ago. 2 years ago, I had a double-blowout so 2 were replaced. The 2 older ones now need replacing because of uneven treadware. They had both been on the same side of the car, hence more outside wear. The uneven wear is causing steering wheel wobble, so I need to replace them. The 2 newer tires only have 10K on them so they'll all work together well.

I am beginning to question the competence of my garage. They have never even offered the magnet weights and the others do cause damage. Will have to talk to them.

In terms of tires, has anybody tried the Yoko ES100's? I've heard good and bad about them. Good value for the money but noisy and they wear quickly.

And, can I mount 205/55/15's on my stock Legacy Sport 15"'s?

ES100s are good tires, but you can certainly do better for around the same price.

Bridgestone Potenza RE750s or RE950s are excellent tires. . . about as good as the ES100s in the snow, too. . .which isn't really good. I'm running RE750s on the STi right now, and I love them. Far better than the ES100s I had on my last car last year.

If you're looking more all-season, might I suggest the Pirelli P-Zero Neros? I've hear excellent things about them, and the price is very right. Much better all-season handling than the above tires, but you will sacrifice a lot of the high performance aspects in favor of that.

Tape weights are widely in use. . . if your shop doesn't use them, might want to go with a shop that's more with the times. Of course, that all depends on how applicable they are to your current rims, too.

about how much are the 750's and 950's in comparison to the es100's. Yeah I could go look for it but I be lazy rght now

hmm. The 750s sound like an all around better tire, and the 950's sound better than those. aside from the lower noise and ride comfort. Have you heard any negatives about either? What dont you like about them?

So far, I love the 750s on my car. One of our friends has the 950s on his RSX, and swears by them, too. All-around, they're both hard to beat.

Just don't count on them too much in the snow. The AWD helps, but the starts and stops might be an issue.

My gf has the 750's on her s2000.......she doesn't seem to like them too much....but I'm not sure how much she's pushed the car......plus she's comparing them to the S02's.

Art, what tire are you coming from that the 750's are working well for you?

I just put RE750's on my wife's '00 RS. They're phenomenally better than the Ecsta 712's that we had on there before.

I actually had RE070s on the STi prior to this, but I had ES100s on my Civic last year. I'm talking mostly about higher-performance handling between the two.

The S02 (and now S03) are SUPERIOR tires. . . to almost anything. Comparing anything to them will seem worse than those stock S2000 tires. Drive her car, push it a bit, and I think you'll see the virtues of the RE750s. Ask her WHY she doesn't like them, though. Could just be stiff ride and noise. They have pretty thick sidewalls. . . which is why they corner so well.

The ES100s I had on the Civic were pretty dern predictable . . . fairly stiff sidewalls (although I don't think as stiff as the RE750s) and decent tread blocks. I got them after a set of Parada Spec-2s I had, mainly for better wet-traction. . . . know what? They weren't any better than the Paradas. The 750s seem much more potent in the rain, and even moreso in the dry.

Scoobey . . . I take it you have a separate set of winter tires? I mean, seeing as how you live in the Great North, and all. I ask because NONE of these tires we're discussing are in any way suitable for snow and ice.

I'm running the goodyear gs-d3's and from what people have said, they're about par with the s03's. I've been very happy with them in terms of grip and traction in the dry & wet. They could use a little stiffer sidewalls, but they well make up for it in grip.

I've only driven her car around the block....haven't really pushed it......I'll have to see if she'll let me take it out for a drive.....she's a little protective of it

Well Josh. . . . it's "In her best interest" to see what's up with those tires.

I'm sure you'll figure out a way of pla. . . er, working on that tire issue.
