Vrg3 has one.

Some car guys will get them installed just to tie together the rear of the car and stiffen the frame up. A few of the SHO guys have done that (they also tow boats occasionally.)

A hitch was never a factory option... and I don't know if it was ever a dealer-installed option on BC/BF Legacies. Mine's a Draw-Tite hitch.

I don't think Subaru started offering a hitch as a dealer-installed option until they started selling the Outback and Forester. Supposedly, though, even on those models the Draw-Tite one fits better and costs less.

I've had a hitch on my sube for 4 years now. And as others have said, it was never a factory option. I really don't know what I would do without one....just last weekend I towed a sailboat down to Cascade Locks in the gorge, and earlier in the year towed one down to san francisco. The funniest thing is how it makes the car look so small compared to other vehicles that tow. :D

Isn't that a lil more weight than you should be towing?

Naw, im towing sailboats that don't weight too much....like <500 lbs max. Usually more like 2-300 lbs.
It does suck going up big hills and hauling boats out of the water up steep ramps though. Idealy I would have a different car for towing, but this works just fine.

I'm at UW right now, and am living up in Wedgewood.
I love how the NW is so subaru friendly,
my friend just bought a wrx after having a legacy gt for awhile, and my roomate nick and his dad have restored like 5 GLs.
Good times.
