ok this is my first car and as it should be it is a very good learning tool. there are a few things cosmeticly that i find truly anoying especialy on my car (roof rust a silver n/a hood and a bunch of other stuff) i want to build it up to a 12- 13 second street sleeper but when that rust gets bad i want to get a 95-99 gt and transfer all the good stuff engine trans ect. but how hard will it be and will the suspension and brakes transfer? and will the 5mt that should come with the new car be mateable with my curent engine? if theres anything that wont work or go into the 95-99 let me know

All depends on exactly what this "first car" of yours is.

Hmmm. . . I'm still n00b at teh Legacies as I've got teh WRX-age going on, but I think the suspension would work. Depends on what you do aftermarket-wise, I guess.
Cosmetically, I don't think much, if anything, would transfer.

I think pretty much every interesting part would swap over. Wiring the engine and transmission would be nontrivial, though.
The EJ22T will mate with a non-turbo transmission on a later Legacy, but a non-turbo clutch setup might have some trouble handling the torque.
I think a BD GT might actually have similar or better springs and struts from the factory... and the front brakes are the same.
Someone correct me if I have this wrong.

From our friend here's signature, he's got Brembo's and AGX's and such.
Everything SHOULD bolt over anyway I'd think.
I have the same concern as vrg3 up there. The stock clutch setup likely can't handle 12 or 13 seconds worth of power.
Why not just restore the 92?

i like the look of the 92 but the 95-99 gt looks better that and it will take too much to fix that its not worth it. the cluch isnt a problem because i was planing on a new cluch and flywheel durring the swap.
so the 5mt from the gt should mate to the ej22t that i have now with the 4eat?

Phil - Oh yeah.
azn2nr - Even if you're changing the clutch, you'll still have the relative handicap of it being a push-type clutch rather than a pull-type. Are there aftermarket non-turbo Subaru clutches capable of handling the kind of torque necessary to pull a 12-13 second quarter mile?
But, yes, the transmission should mate to the engine.
