My first drag...little less than hoped for.

So anyways, I'm running wrx tires with re-92s, K&N filter, desnorkified intake with the throttle bypass coolant mod. That's about it really.

I've also been having some issues with idle along with really random clutch engagment problems (the position of engagement tends to slip...my plan is to pretty much replace all those hoses and the master cylinder since I've already changed the slave), and then occasionally the car will act like it isn't getting enough boost or maybe the ecu pulls timing. Either way it is like hitting a wall compared to what it should drive like.

So today at the track (my first time) pretty much all those problems were plaguing me except the clutch issue.

My best time was a 17.603 with a trap speed of 79.554. My reaction speed on that run was pretty slow (.699)

On my other 5 runs my trap speed ranged from .1-.3.

My slowest run was 17.957 with a trap speed of 79.046 and the fastest reaction speed. Not only that, but it was also in the evening after dark and after the weather had cooled down considerably.

It was all pretty sad. A friend of my brothers went with me and his n/a 95 2.2L impreza was consistently in the 17.1 and 17.2 (yes a n/a wiped the walls with me :)

Hardy...<ehem>...Thawa showed up to give me moral support (thanks for showing Thawa) and he was really surprised as well. I ended up just accepting it and shrugging it off. I think I had the slowest time written on my window. there was one slower and that was some old 70's V8 powered van that could only burn one tire. He was at 17.8 on his window, but the run I saw him run was an 18.1.

So this weekend I'll be looking for vacuum leaks, ordering an exhaust and who knows what else.

Oh, and if anyone wants to dispute my times just know this......

I have my timeslips to prove my times!

Oh I forgot to mention...

The drag was interesting in how they did the actual comp: After you ran your time trials (2-3 runs) you'd guess what you think you'd get and write that on your window. After that as you lined up to race someone would enter the times into a computer (I'm guessing) and the lights would be staggard. The slower guy would go first and the faster guy would go second, but if you were both right on in your times you should arrive at the end of hte race at the same time. So basically, whoever crossed the finish line first won. The only exception to this is if you went under your expected time. If you went under then you immediately loose (same if you red light it). Of course if you both go under your estimate, then whoever was closer to their time won, I think. <shrug> either way, it was nice to know that I didn't loose any of hte races. I won every one. I ended up not competing anymore and going home because I didn't want to keep racing my car with the way it was acting and it was getting late.

heh, it was fun, you didnt have the slowest time taht's for sure. There were a few more 18's and shit. But that's okay. That guy in the i thikn it was powerstroke deisel was AWESOME! This guy had so much torque it smoked the tires for like the 60' or 1/8 mile or osmething. It was so torquey that his back got loose and I think he backed off. But yeah, i dunno what was up with your car ryan :\ Hopefully it's easily fixable.

That's called bracket racing and it's the most common type of ametuer drags.

Even with the slow times isn't draggin' super fun though? It's a real rush. The first time I did it I was practically shaking. haha
