so with that said when you have a large exhaust all the way from the turbo back its gonna make some noise. but what if you got a dp and an electric cut out and kept everything from that point back stock. this way you can have a quiet unobtrusive drive to the grocery store and when your lineing up you can open it up for that extra loud power gain

um... is this a question? Or is it a statement?

I thought about the cutout idea, but I like my car to sound mean all the time. I don't really "street race" and since I couldn't drive with the DP open all of the time, it would be closed and hindering performance (stock exhaust from the DP back would).

If you are at the track a lot and don't care about street performance, then go for it. If you are like me and daily drive and want the car to perform the same all the time, then the cutout is a waste.

Large pipe straight out the back is what is loud. My car was setting off car alarms when I started it up - 3" all the way to a 4" straight-through muffler. I put my silencer on and it was a completely different car... sounds almost stockish. So if you go with a big system and one cat and a factory style muffler (not straight-through 4" tip) it will sound very normal while making big power.
