156k miles now, I was wondering how long other people's stock turbos have held together...

Just to clarify, are you talking about the car in general or the turbocharger specifically?

Subaru designed the car with the full intent of running 300,000 miles with nothing other than standard maintainence.

You should be fine.

Our turbo is the size of an apple, and boosts less than almost every turbo car out there.

You could always check for yourself (or have Art do it! LOL!).

Take the intake piping off of the turbo and check the compressor wheel for freeplay and free spin. Then do a visual check on the turbo for any signs of oil/coolant leakage.

If everything checks out, then it should be a close approximation that you have a pretty good amount of life left in the thing. Of course, there's internal leaks, but if you're turbos not smokin, I don't think this would be an issue.

Part of why I sold my Sport Wagon was I was getting oil leakge from the turbo. My car had 95k mi on it. It really varies from car to car. the exhaust housings have also been known to crack. There was a thread about it last week or the week before...
