i was thinking about selling my leg. and getting a muscle car. i was something that looks scarier. i love my legacy , but i want more pure power. what do you think

do you have a 2nd car, or at least enough money to refurbish the muscle car all at once or get one that is in great mechanical shape? Because muscle cars have this nasty tendency to be broked. Also, the legacy will always handle waaaay better. With those things in mind, do what makes ya happy.

Dear god man, don't sell your leg for a car!!!!! You only have two and you have to push on the accelerator with one of them!!!

What are you considering for your muscle car project?

^ same question. I personally wouldn't want anything less than a fake, but to spec, 1966 Shelby GT-350. I'd say a black '69 440 Charger R/T, but parking here would be too hard. Those are my personal favs.

Why would you want a "pure power" car that handles like a loaf of bread?

I would rather drive a Honda than a Muscle Car, but I'm the type that likes to be able to steer.

plus american cars don't hold you well, nor are they very comfortable. They're too spacious.

And they suck gas like a $3 hooker.

The coolness of a muscle car more than makes up for its lack of turning and gas-suckingness...

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I never got into the muscle car thing. Cool, yea, but I dont think I'd ever want to drive one.

Some, although I suppose they'd technically be 'pony cars', handle pretty decently actually. Live axle cars can handle a lot better than auto journalist/snobs who can't drive say. Not that all muscle cars are like this - something like a big block Chevelle with 4-wheel drums handles and brakes like ass, no two ways about it. Either way, the disgusting thing is that a lot of muscle cars can still out handle and get better mileage than a lot of big SUVs.

Muscle cars aren't like new over-powered Mercedes-Benzes, they have a lot of character that allows forgiveness of many faults.

I could criticize the Legacy for the same things if I compare it to a Miata, CRX, Elise, etc.

I like all cars - muscle car to sports car, I just find the Legacy is a near perfect blend of everything.

Keep in mind you're looking at a car that's over 30 years old. Anything decent and well restored (and not just show-wise - a lot of restorers are horrible mechanics) will be a lot more expensive and should really be a second car at least so as not to piss any value away. Anything below this level will be constant small problems. I have enough trouble keeping on top of a 15 year old car built to a higher standard.

I like all types of cars. Muscle cars can be very cool, IMO. My one brother in law has a 1970 Hemi Cudda 664. The thing is scarey fast and looks mean as hell. He also went and got one of those new Hemi Dodge trucks a couple weeks back. It's preety nice. He was going to get one of those Viper trucks but the dealership was giving him the run around.

One of the coolest ( and fastest) cars I ever rode in was a '56 Bel Air that was fully built up with a supercharger and all. It was wicked. IIRC it was a high 10 second car.

At least with me, this rule holds true: Just because you're going fast, doesn't mean you're having fun. And conversely, just because you're having fun, doesn't mean you're going fast.

That said, muscle cars really have no appeal to me. Sure, you can get a Camaro, spend $600 and be running 12's in it. If all you want is .25-mile times, then muscle cars are your thing. It's no contest.

But that doesn't interest me one bit. I'd have way more fun zipping around town in a small 4-cyl car, carving corners and surprising bigger, more powerful cars. That kind of situation is how you attach to a car, become one with it, fall in love with it. I can't imagine myself doing that in a muscle car.

And those old muscle cars are ridden with problems anyway. Case in point: Just last night, I was at a car meet, and a 80's 5.0 Stang caught on fire!! Smoke started pouring from under the hood, and the guy opened it to see flames shoot out everywhere. He put it out and had a Ranger tow him home. My friend and I laughed, got in our Subarus and drove home as normal

I say you go ahead and get the muscle car if that's what you want. There's always time to get another legacy. Whatever people say is good but if you have the urge to get a different car and you have the means then I say go for it. The reason I own a Subaru is because it's dependable, goes well in the snow and is pretty good all around package in all respects. I don't think owning a Subaru has to be a mindset unless you're obsessed with Subarus. Although it's one of the better brands, after all is said and done it's just a another type of car.

i was looking at a 67 buick wildcat(pretty rare), it comes with two 430ci engines (350 hp stock). its a no option model (even rarer) power convertable. its not in very good shape.-floors rusted, little body rust, engine is taken out, interior torn, but still restorable. the guy wants 1800, i think i could get him down to 1500. i would try and sell my leg for 2500 and buy the wildcat and a cheap beater to use during the restoration. im not going to do a very extensive restoration, because of funds and the fact that i want to drive it as fast as possible. how much do you think i could sell my legacy for- 103,000, a little rust, no through, good condition and stuff listed in my sig.

I'd say don't let anyone's thoughts here sway your decision. But if you do, i'd sell the leg and get a nice muscle car.

sell the legacy. stop putting funny looking things on it, and start terrorizing the muscle car crowd with your green headlamps

When I was younger (man I sound old) I had the same attitude. My first car was a 1970 240z that I only drove twice before it was pronounced unregisterable. I looked at everything from a Saab Sonett III to a '67 Cadillac hearse sold be a guy who looked like David Gilmour. Whatever you think the car will cost, multiply it by at least 3. Things always come up. And consider where the money could be better spent, like on women, travelling, or saving for school or a house. Or you could learn the hard way like I did, I can't say I regret it, though the money could've been better spent.

I'm with Steve. My car has turned into a HUGE investment. More of one than I was expecting.

Aside from the clutch/flywheel/engine/tranny mounts, everthing has been the 100k maintainence.

Had I gone OEM on everything, the whole clutch/flywheel/engine and tranny mounts would have only set me back $800 installed. I'm at $1500 installed for the go-fast goodies.

Not by much though Assuming you're still at stock boost levels.
