OK, got new speakers for my car but what is the trick to replacing the door speakers? I thought that just unscrewing the 3 screws at the speaker grill would have been the trick but does the whole door panel have to be removed? Just didn't want to procede further until I asked the forum here first.
Yep, and if you were lucky enough to get speakers that are too deep, you'll run into a problem with the magnet hitting the glass. That is if we have the same door internals as a WRX.
I was hoping I didn't have to do that, OK can anyone fill me in on the process before I go screwing something up? Any info or documentation would be most helpfull. Thanks for the reply.
3 screws next to the speaker grille connecting the door panel to the door. 2 more screws next to the handle. Be careful when you pull the panel off because of the wire for the power windows is short.
I used 1 inch spacers that i had to drill into the door metal. The factory speakers have built in spacers that you cant reuse.

I think someone here mentioned that they drilled the tack welds on the stock speakers and used the spacers with their new speakers. Sounds like a good idea, if somewhat labor intensive.
If you buy from a place like Crutchfield, they give you spacers for free.

might be different on the later models, but i can't imagine a way to do that to the spacers on my 90.
