I'm the R0x0rs! Owned a Mini Cooper S at the autocross.... Okay, so I didnt win my class, but I didnt lose either. Class was Novice Ladies AM... so... yeah, 4 entrants, Porsche 944, 2.5RS(suspension, tires, etc) and a modded(not sure what)Mini Cooper S. We were allowed 4 runs, all 3 cars ran in the first heat, with me in #2. I went into the competition set on losing, but improving my skill. I walked away from the competition with a low 59 second run, finishing in 3rd, ahead of the autocross machine. Apparently the announcer was commenting on my ability to get the big, heavy car to go where i wanted it(i did LOTS of sliding). all of my runs were clean except for the last where i picked up a cone and dragged it about 30 feet
Also, congratulate Arturo for finishing 4th in his class, the real classes are WAY harder to compete in than the ladies.

Sweet Laurel, sounds like a blast!

I can't remember, did you already swap over Ruby's struts and springs?
4th place is killer Art, congratulations! The STI must have been smokin'.
Do you guys have any pics or what?

Damn I hate to explain compliments, but I suppose it's only my strange mind that can make sense of them sometimes. I was implying that you're cute even when only a little of your face is showing. But don't let it go to your head!
Ahem, anyways, since you're fishin' for congratulations - good job!

awww! thank you!
i thought it may have been a reference to how i drove without an open face helmet, and then i was confused, because lots of people do and.... oh, nm

Looks like you had a great time there, makes me wish i still could fit into my helmet, but I got my wisdom teeth out on fri

. I just autocrossed my SS last Sunday for the first time. I was in Street Mod due to the IC and MBC, so i was pretty much set on being completely outgunned (which i was). I was extremely surprised to find out just how well these cars like the autocross track, even with my blown suspension the car was still fairly competitive with the cars it was closer to performance wise. I can't wait to get some of these old suspension bits replaced so i can do it again. Have you autocrossed a lot in the past? Just keep practicing and you will be running circles around the 944 and 2.5 in no time.

wagon=better weight distribution than sedan

it was my 3rd time. I dont believe that my car could do much better in the shape it's in now. i need to get a set of 17 's with azenis on them for the track, as well as a new rear sway and upper strut. there's only so much you can do with a giant wagon. I'd prefer to keep running with the amount of power i have stock and concentrate my money and energy on suspension, i think that will help develop my skill as a driver more, instead of relying on the power of the car to get me through

That's the best idea - cheaper, too. Not to mention the best way to make every car you drive faster is to learn to drive better.
Not that I'm Michael Shumacher over here, but I know I drive a hell of a lot better because I've owned slow cars.

Laurel, that's awesome! Congratulations! You were probably the only auto in the group too, so that's just another reason to be proud of yourself. I'd be running Azenis on the street, but they don't make any in a reasonable size. The widest for a 16" rim is 215, but it's to tall, a 205 would work, but that's to narrow.
Congrats to Art also, 4th place is killer.
I really want to get out to an auto-x now. I'm afraid that if I do, my car will turn into even more of a pit than it is now.

The reason she did so well is because it's an auto.
Sorry, ciper isn't here...

Before we turn this into ANOTHER AT vs. MT thread

, congrats Laurel! Those Minis are a force to be reckoned with on the track.
We had autoX's at a local community college all the time here in Orlando. I never participated, coz there was always something that I thought should be fixed on the car before I tried. And now they don't have them in town anymore!

The only autoX I've ever done was the 03 Subaru Challenge with the XT.

are you sure it was boost related fuel cut? my car starting hitting "cut" at the road road course. it wasn't until much later that i figured out it was from my gas tank getting low and fuel starvation was the culprit

I'm pretty sure it's boost related... i never once got it with the partywagon, and it's always when i'm going balls out that i get the cutoff

by Brat4by4
first, get a boost gauge. second, when you say balls out... are you referring to going fast around corners? If so, some Subies have trouble with gas leaving the pump area. Something is supposed to keep enough there to always make it to the pump, but some cars just don't. Going fast around corners and/or low gear nose-lifting acceleration can deprive the pump of the needed fuel.
by the way, your NA has a different gas tank. so no more comparing the two, ok

I thought it was 2wd and awd that had the different tanks, not N/A vs. turbo.
