I've been looking around for a descent muffler to put on my 91 legacy mt non-turbo, i want a nice low sound not too loud and annoying. I also removed the second cat after getting exhaust leaks ever weak and just had them weld in a new pipe in all the way through. I saw tons on ebay, and really am not looking to get a very expensive performance muffler, just one to produce a nice tone and replace my rusted one. If anyone has a good place online feel free to drop a link

I have a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow on my NA... Paid $100 including installation. I like how it sounds.... its not loud and annoying to me, but i'm not sure how you would find it.... the 50 series would be a little quieter, so you may want to go with that one just to be safe even though the 40 isnt that bad.

The video in this thread can give you a decent idea of how it sounds....(it is link number 2)

Where did you pick it up? I went buy a local shop that isnt my usual place and this guy must have thought i was some dumbass who just wants to rice up his car, first he tells me 100 dollars just to install a muffler, then he wants to sell me a 300 dollars borla muffler which he claimed was made SPECIFICALLY for my 91 subaru legacy..... it originally cost his friend 600 but will give it to me for 300....

It really makes me sad sometimes when i walk around autozone or Strauss and hear the pure bullshit that comes out of peoples mouthes. Sometimes i wanna be helpfull and prevent someone from getting screwed over buy at the same time not sound nosy.

I am sure my regular place will give a descent price for an install but i was just wondering how much you figure is fair? Also did your shop stock the muffler or did you purchase it yourself?

I got mine from a local shop that already had the muffler in stock... I'm not too sure what would be fair for a muffler, but $100 including installation seemed like a good deal to me...

omegamax - it's best not to help those people out. It's like telling a friend their significant other is cheating on them or just plain sucks - they end up resenting you instead.

Oh yeah btw, i was just looking on ebay i saw those flowmasters...
im about to go crawl under my car to see the inlet outlet positioning. Those exhausts do not come with a tip correct?

At autozone all i see is cherrybombs.... theres this certain ricer sound athat i hate and if i get it i will run my car off a bridge from the video the muffler sounds awsome i hope mine sounds the same way. How loud is it in your car? I saw the super40 serious boasts low interior resonance... but i dont know how true that claim is.

Mine is offset going in and center going out.

Looking at the picture though, it doesn't appear to be a delta flow, which would make it even louder than mine...

The sound isn't so bad inside...

One last question for the inlet/outlet what is the stock exhaust inlet 2.25? what would be the effect of getting a larger inlet/outlet and putting on an adapater when installing? How would it effect sound/performance. I decided to get the 50... aslong as i still get the nice low tone but not too loud.

Oh yeah one more.. just wondering how wide apart is the dual tip flowmasters? Would there be too little flow between the two outlets to produce the proper tone?

our stock inlet is 2 inches can u believe that thats on a N/A atleast it wont do a thing if u get a larger one becuase its still the same flow coming in. it shouldnt effect sound and performance but i could be wrong. i got a magna flow its kinda loud especially going up hill. i wouldnt know how wide apart they are but those duel tip u see is ment for dual exhaust one on both sides of the bumper
