How rich are you running? The engine will run rich till you reach operating temps.

Could be too many short trips. Have you done a compression test?

first off, what kind of car do you have, that makes a big difference.
gas is getting past your piston rings and into the crankcase. somehow. carburated engines had this problem if they were started a bunch because lots of fuel was dumped into the cylinders before start up.

I have a similar problem with my '90 Legacy FWD 5spd. It actually makes it's own oil which smells strong of gas. Also, when I remove the oil filler cap with the engine running there is a strong positive pressure. Engine runs fine & smooth, although I change the oil every 1K and the check engine light comes on sometimes. Any help?

pull the codes for the CEL and see what comes up. You'll find directions on how to do so on my site.
