18-up girls, 21-up guys BLOWS!

This dumb-ass rule
really pissed me off tonight. There's a bar in Orlando that has female mud wrestling every Thursday night sponsored by a local rock station. It's every guy's fantasy right there in front of you
The first time this even happened at this particular bar, I was there. There was no cover, anyone could walk in. I never had a drop of alcohol when I was there. I had been several other times, brought friends, etc. etc. Then I told some guys at work about it a couple weeks ago, and it's like THE place that Toyota employees go on Thursday nights.
I finally decide to pay for it tomorrow getting up early for class and just go and stay out late tonight. It's been about 6 months since I'd last been (they took a break in the winter). The clown at the front door said I can't get in, 21-up guys. I said very angrily "Since when???" He said, "Since about 3 months ago."
I am actually going to call the DJ tomorrow when he's on the air and bitch him out for this. And when he gives me shit, like I know he will, I'll tell him the station just lost an 8-year loyal listener, who went to more than one of their concerts.
I won't get into it too much, but this 18-up girls, 21-up guys thing is really stupid. What makes girls so special that THEY can go in there and get piss-drunk underage and I can't? Are we trying to make whores of them as early as possible?
I'll stop there before I write a textbook, just think this rule is really stupid.

This is why guys like me would rather HOST these kinds of events. . . .
. . . and this school of thought lead to the birth of AHOC. (Art's House Of Corruption) est. 2002
When I build me next house, I'll just include a mud pit in the design.

Yeah. . . everyone should be allowed to participate in underage drinking. . . right?

You guys aren't being serious are you? Most clubs here in Central Florida are like that, all girls 18-up can get in any club they want, a select few clubs let guys under 21 in for a ridiculous cover charge, usually like $10.

Ladie's night has been banned in several states from lawsuites. That I don't agree with, though, as it helps fight the overwhelming sausage factor, but I agree with you on the age thing - it should be for everyone. What if it were white people 18, black people 21 or something similar? Of course, there's no way that would ever fly, so why should this?

Doesn't mean that just because it's the norm that the law will side with you.
I wouldn't bother persuing it. Just live with it. When you turn 21, all this crap will seem VERY trivial to you.

I was being serious because I thought you were really mad, and honestly this is sexual descrimination, which violates the 14th amendment.

I know they do the 18 over for girls and no cover for girls to help the sausage fest.....the no cover thing I don't mind as long as cover isn't a huge amount. But the 18 vs 21......18 yr olds for the most part are the barely legals and I'd say the majority of the crowd is prob goin to be older.....ehh....I have my opinion about the whole age thing.....and I'm just going to stop there.

If you build it......they will come....

It doesn't seem right to me. If you do pursue it I would go to the city council and mention the fact that they are discriminating based on age and gender and then mention the word 'lawsuit' .
I think it's ok if the gals get in free and we have to pay (even though it sucks) but to let under age girls in and not guys, is wrong. They shouldn't be letting under age girls in anyways....

Unfortunately, it's the girls that bring the guys who'd buy drinks and make money for the venue. Believe me, if 18yo dudes could bring in the cash flow, they'd let them in.
Sad, but true. Believe me, you're probably not missing much if the venue is doing this sort of discrimination.

I am really mad, it's just that it seems to be the norm around here and I didn't think I could do much about it.
I actually got a call from the group that went last night at 1:45am (they should be happy I didn't go off on them for waking me up! ), they said they talked to the DJ and he coulda made an exception for me, so mebbe next week will be good.
I still wonder if I should make some noise about this though. A club in downtown Orlando is strictly 80's on Saturday nights {}, and that's the only night of the week that it's 18-up F, 21-up M. It'd be awesome if I got that dropped so I could go jam to Depeche Mode and Prince
It's really an awesome gig, the girls get into the mud, rip each other's shirts off in a matter of seconds, and full frontal nudity is allowed and makes big points! The winning girl gets $300 in cash/prizes, and the guys all get mental images to take home

I wish there were clubs like that around here.

So you're not atually mad that there's an age difference, you're mad that you couldnt get in? If that's the case then dont waste your time with a lawsuit.
