I noticed a tweeter kit in a 98 outback at the local u-pull-it today. I figured "what the hell" and picked up the set. They fit in my 94 almost perfectly. I just had to run the wiring. They have the crossovers built in, so you just need to tap into the door speaker's wiring!

That's good info. If I didn't already have tweets in my car, I'd definitely look at these.

how difficult was the removal and installation? How long did it take you?

already I ordered it and it arrived yesterday, i think (saw on the back porch this morning on my way to work). How do you remove the tweeter without tearing the thing to shreads? I want to add my own tweeter in there!

Just looking to find out any updates on this subject...specifically how long your ordered from the Surplus subaru place took to arrive. And for that matter what color were they when they showed up ??????

From subaruxtras.com it should only be a few days for shipping. The tweeters are black. I don't think there was ever any other color.

Having those there sure would make it a pain to pull the door panel off, though. But man, it would be nice to have. Did the whole plastic piece from the outback fit into that spot across from the mirror, Or did you somehow mount them to our black triangle pieces?

I have not mounted them yet, but it appears that the triangular trim piece comes off and the tweeter housing mounts in it's place.

ok ...while I was looking through that list of crap on the extras website I also noticed the 97 -99 subwoofer kit...Now I trash the hell out of my car but I would like to have some bass (without the loss of space)...
anybody know anything about this kit...(where it mounts, if its a perfect fit, if its amped, what size sub)
any info would be great

If it is like the wrx subs, it goes under the front seat. Shouldn't this be in a different post? Just so this doesn't get hijacked?

So the stubs that fit into the housing line up ok?

So I just completed this on our 94 yesterday. They do turn out great as the OP's photo points out. What I learned:
-Grab the harness that plugs into the speakers with as much wire as possible (the connector is somewhat unique going into the tweeter) if you are at the boneyard.
-NOTE-you need to utilize your existing black "sails" as the speakers do NOT directly fit by themselves
-I marked the three "prongs" on the back of the tweeters with white out and than quickly marked my original black "sails" to drill. Remember to pull foam backing off black sails prior to drilling and to put back prior to final mounting.
I recommend leaving 1/8" space off the bottom when overlaying your speakers on your sail panels-
-Fitment is terrific. I did not use any type of ahesive as the tweeters flared prongs fit into my drilled hole snugly.
