Hello I'm new to this board but not new to Subarus. We just picked up a 1991 Legacy L minimal rust for the area I live in . It is an AWD Sedan 5 speed with 184,000 on it. I was wondering if I should change the timing belts since I have no history on service. It just seems to purr and it leaks no oil what so ever. I will post some pics soon.

Thanks, Joe

if you've got nothing but free time and money, then yes you should change the timing belt (only one of these puppy's ;)) It's a pretty easy job.

Joe, glad you made it over here :D You'll find this community to be as welcoming and knowledgeable as the XT6 group.

As I said on the USMB, do your timing belts and while you're at it, replace all the front oil seals. Then you can be 100% sure it doesn't leak any oil.

And maybe even the water pump too, since I had to take my timing belt back off not even 5K miles after replacing it to replace my leaking water pump.
