Just wondering what I should expect from my stock turbo at the strip..??

I know there is one guy on this board who ran 15.7 with a little more boost.. I will find his name later.

I kinda wish there was a sticky with peoples (acutal) times. Not a kills thread, just something showing times and mods.

I've never done a 1/4 mile, since that's not really what our cars were built for.

I'd much rather have an autox setup

"not really what our cars were built for"...?

I dont think they were built for autocrossing either - but I'd like to have mine perform well in both a 1/4 mile drag and a cross. 1/4 mile runs are a damn good way to tune for the fastest acceleration... which I consider important :)

I think these cars were built for rallying.

In any case, I'm going for an auto-X setup myself.

15.6xx on 12 psi of boost, sunoco 94, All AC gear removed (freggen heavy stuff). Spare tire and trunk interior all removed. Slightly larger tires on Legacy GT rims (that couldn't of helped) Other then that the car is stock. Oh ya and since it was my first time out my best reaction was a shitty .9

Expect 15.9 to 16.1 on a completely stock car once you get the launch right. I got down to 15.7 with nothing more than a lightweight flywheel and the STi tranny and engine mounts.

I autox my WRX...we get owned by sentra spec v and preludes in STX all day long. So no..are cars are as much autox cars as 1/4 cars. You want to see a real ass kicking watch a mazdaspeed run an autox. Those things handle like they are on rails!!

1/4 is a good tuning tool, bette then a dyno if you ask me. It doesn't matter if you can make 10 million hp on a dyno if you can't get it to stick.

What do you think I'll run.

combo in the making:

ej22T
bellmouth dp with race cat
jethot coated dp and up
saab IC
little more boost
small amount of head porting
stock turbo
4.44 gear
wrx modded cat back with turboxs muffler
sticky tires
diving it like I stole it:)

What times did the mazda's run?? I just went to auto x a couple of weeks ago and a mazda miata with big turbo was 1st all day and some bmw e30's were in the top five..

Dan - I'd say a low 15/high 14 is pretty reasonable. It depends on what "a little more boost" means.

I know Matt (Legacy92ej22t) has an ass kicker in his possesion. Pulled on a WRX on the highway with 3 big guys, a trunk full of tools, and in Safe Mode. I think he was running 10 second 1/8th miles in the rain, stock. I'd imagine he's in the upper 13's when running properly.

What's matt got for mods?
I know about the CES Exhaust.... but what else?

I was the one who ran the 15.7 at about 14 psi. I hope its just my butt dyno adjusting, but this car seems to get slower and slower. I know with a good clutch and an exhaust i can get the time a little lower, but i still think it should be running better. I am going to rip into the intake piping tomorrow to make sure that there aren't any leaks, and i'm gonna check the turbo for play.

Last I checked, Matt has the CES exhaust (the new one now with the uppipe, crosspipe, downpipe all the way out). SAAB IC, 15psi, JoeP-MBC, VRG FCD, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting. It's his car, not mine, so I'm just reciting what he's told me. It's fast as shit though, that much I can tell you right now.

Removed snorkus, K&N panel filter, Saab 900 TMIC, Diamond coil pack, Joe-p MBC set to 14 psi (sometimes get 15 psi w/creep and atmospheric conditions), Autometer Phantom series boost gauge 30-0-30 vac/boost, 4-wire O2 sensor (unhooked), VRG3 Phase II FCD, V-powers gapped to .040, CES Racing Legacy semi-race 3" TBE w/ DP03 SS DP but the uppipe and crosspipe aren't in yet (they're going in very soon though) and I run 94 octane.

That's all my performance mods, I think, but I have a lot in the works too. Rear LSD is going in soon, CES uppipe and crosspipe (maybe with a new friend  ), Autometer Phantom series EGT and WRX hood scoop. I Have a lot of other plans too, that's just the stuff I have in hand, waiting to go in.

1/4 mile times will be coming soon....

:D

Sweet, that sounds like a similar setup to what I'm aiming for, except V2 intercooler, and Helix DP with custom catback..

I'll only be running 11psi until I can find myself an easy to install FCD.

This is what I have planned:

Budget Set-up (for now) - hopefully low 13s at around 105 mph

Stock turbo - 15 psi (MBC)
K&N Drop-in filter
vrg3 FCD
Saab I/C
3" turbo-back exhaust (custom)

Then when I get more money: 12s at 110 mph?

Stand-alone (Autronic, LINK or SDS)
Larger Injectors
FMIC
Fuel Pump
Dyno tuning
Clutch

Then when more money comes along: (12s/11s at 120 mph)

Custom exhaust manifolds
T3/T4 turbo
More boost
More dyno tuning
Drag Radials

Hehe, just day-dreaming

Hey that's exactly what I have. The exhaust is 2.5" catless though and I'm running 17psi. Low 13's?? No way. High 14's maybe.

good luck getting 105 out of a stock turbo, maybe out of a TD05H.

I've ran my car against other cars, and I can tell you with that setup you're not getting more than high 14's out of it. Which is still pretty good for just Intake and Exhaust and Boost up, that's takin about a second and a half off the stock 1/4.

VF10... I got my MBC turned all the way up.

doesnt the VF-11 fall way out of its efficiency range and start pumping out superheated air at around 14-15psi? And isn't the VF-10 a slightly smaller turbo? Damn...
