Going from bushings to bearings...

ok I switched from the factory turbo to the VF-34 as some of you may know. I know that the oil line that runs to the trubo is to keep a steady supply of oil in the bushings. I also know that you should not have excess oil or grease when using bearings or they will fail prematurely. I thought I read somewhere that there is some sort of oil restrictor that should be used when you upgrade from a bushing to a bearing turbo. Has anyone heard if such a thing or am I just confused?

yeah I believe I have heard the same thing. You don't want your oil flow rate to be too high because it won't be in there long enough to take the heat away from the bearings. I'd suggest talking with the turbo manufacturer to see what sort of flow rate they suggest or what sort of restriction to use.

Yeah, I'm with Josh on asking the manufacturer...

Some turbo bearings also have problems with high-pressure oil leaking past the bearing seals, and these problems go away with a restrictor.

Some turbos have restrictors built into their oil feed lines or the center cartridge, though. I don't know anything about the VF34.
