96 Legacy crunch +snap on left turns

Oh, help!

UltimateSubaru.net didn't have any answers for why my beloved Legacy makes creaks, groans, crunches, and snaps when it is warm and I make left turns or go slowly over bumps. The noises only come from the left front wheel well. (or sound like that's where they come from)

I crawled under the car and looked for loose bits, but everything seemed snug.

What is it?

Check to make sure the three strut top nuts are snug and the strut center nut is tight.

Then check the sway bar mounting for play.

Have your lower balljoint checked out, too.

Maybe wheel bearings. Jack up the front and shake on your wheel, if it moves then you'll know they're bad for sure.

My right front wheel bearings went bad (had them replaced). This doesn't sound the same, but maybe they're just starting. Just don't want the wheel to fall off or something before I can figure out what's going on! :?

Does the antiroll bar float inside any of the bushings? My sister's Maxima does that and the rubber's nearly gone (had to drive it while my car was getting body work done. Thank god I got my Sube back! That thing handles like a pig on roller skates. Nice engine, though).
