legacy turbo ecu + 440cc injectors = rich?

Just curious...I'm wondering if perhaps the ECU can't compensate for the extra fuel from 440cc injectors and if it might cause it to run rich across the powerband. I suspect my injectors have become dirty again...this time I will see them myself to see exactly what this means. You would think that the small increase in injector size could be handled. If it indeed runs rich I wonder if I should use an safc to lean it out...maybe thats why the previous owner fooled around with one...hmm
any thoughts?
thanks

The ECU, MAF, & injectors need to be working in harmony. The ECU is programmed to run on a specified set of injectors, and if you go larger you need to have it reprogrammed to decrease duty cylce at lower rpms especially.
what do your plugs look like? Have you pulled them to check?

Hehe. If ever you want to trade your 440s for my 370s I'll be more than happy to oblige

Would one expect my injectors to be all nasty coated with black crud? and would that cause me to start having spark problems...oh, say at 3k rpm at say 5%-25% throttle? Cause when I am just cruising slow on the interstate, i get a weird stumble... My next thing to check is the injectors...A while ago when I pulled the car out of storage and had my mechanic check it out and get it started...he had to clean the injectors to get it to start...said they were full of gunck....wish I had looked at them then.
Thanks

I would say if you're over fueling, which it sounds like the case, then yah they'll probably be gunked up.
The spark plugs will also probably be fouled and gunked up too.

Thanks josh...I actually meant to say sparkplugs instead of injectors in that last post, but I had injectors on the mind cause I had just sent mine to be cleaned and put them back in. They had a bit of black crud on them...and one of the seals, a square ring, was deformed, maybe melted actually...Cylinder #3 scary. Anyways, my car starts easy now and idles much better. Do you have any tips for making sure I don't screw up putting my sparkplugs in and cross thread them? There isn't much room to work with the quadcams in that engine bay...
I guess I might need an SAFC now...What else could be causing a consistent rich condition?
Thanks

always hand tighten spark plugs. If you do that....you shouldn't have to worry about cross-threading.
Where are you seeing your rich condition, is it at idle, running, full boost?
Have you upgraded to a larger pump? have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge?

I actually don't know for sure that I am running rich, its more of a suspicion of mine. The gunk on the sparkplugs...and because most people seem to be saying that I will with legacy turbo ecu and 440cc injectors. I havn't got a larger pump yet, definately on the list. I have checked the fuel pressure, at idle and reving it at the throttle...I have a guage under the hood, so I have never gotten the pressure while driving. Whats it supposed to be?
thanks

The Legacy Turbo ECU and 440cc injectors will run rich on a stock EJ22T. You can't know for sure what it will do on a different engine. The gunk on your plugs is some indication though.
Austin explained what fuel pressure should be in an answer to another one of your posts:

Hmm... Seems like both you and boostjunkie might be in the market for AFC-type devices soon. Maybe I should get around to designing my low-cost one.

Would you be able to fix the display on my current S-AFC?

You have an S-AFC with a broken display? In what sense is it broken?
I've never taken one apart, so I have no idea what's inside or how it's put together.
Is the unit worthless in its current state? I wouldn't want to risk destroying a working unit...
