WRX intake box mod??

Anyone try mounting the lower have of a WRX intake box on to a Turbo Legacy? The Leg box has a tiny inlet compared to the WRX box. I wonder if the larger opening will result in better performance? The box looks the same otherwise ( I think). I don't feel like tearing into me WRX to see...maybe this weekend.

Why not just cut out the opening of the stock box? I'm going to do it to mine tonight or tomorrow morning.

If you pull out that rubber/metal thing from the hole it makes it bigger.

The overall CFM might not change, but the effort required to pull the same amount of air would be less, espically when you are upping the boost.
Just like exhaust, velocity and volume are key where backpressure is the devil.

isnt the filter more of a restriction than the inlet hole?
