Brake cleaner = ant killer

Ladies and gentlemen, save yourself $2-$3 everytime you have a trail of ants crawling around your house. Instead of spraying them with expensive, smelly and greasy bug spray, spray the whole trail with a light amount of brake cleaner. The ants will die right in their tracks, and the cleaner will evaporate into thin air, leaving no residue or nasty smell! Only $1.19 at your local auto parts store!
Haha, seriously, try it sometime. Brake cleaner kills ants on contact.

Hehe... As I kid I learned that most things in aerosol cans work as bug spray. I seem to recall using hairspray most of the time.
Never had access to brake cleaner when I was young though. That's a neat bonus that it evaporates cleanly. Be sure the area's well ventilated, though, so you don't get all kinds of cancer.

Probably for the best. Wouldn't want your parents to wake up one morning and have their brakes all over the garage because you were experimenting with Earls lines, lol

I figured this one out when nothing else was available too. Hair spray is great, especially when paired with a lighter!

Phil - Heh... Yeah.
Steve - Oh yeah... propane aerosol propellant made for all kinds of fun stuff. At one point I strapped a lighter to a can of Binaca to make a pocket-sized flamethrower. I guess I'm lucky I never blew myself up as a kid.

my ex boyfriend was playing with gunpowder in a baby food jar about 3 years ago. He's still got glass imbedded in his belly and hands

Mmmmmm... black powder. That takes me back.
Here's a fun activity for the kids:
-empty, canister style, fire extinguisher (we used an old kitchen variety that we stole from under the sink)
-black powder (in our case, we used appx. 1/4 pound). Surprisingly easy to procure around where I live, btw.
-sand to fill the the bulk of the fire extinguisher
-wax (to seal the sand/blackpowder into the extinguisher)
-heavy duty fuse material (preferably the waterproof stuff, because you just never know when you're gonna need a waterproof wick)
-lighter
-balls of steel
We utterly destroyeda treehouse (and it was a good sized treehouse at that) and had numerous law enforcement officials trying to locate the *ahem* perpetrators of the loudest, most obscene display of juvenile boredom in Medina county in years.
Ahh, memories...[/i]

Fun little project for the fourth of july.
I'm sure every one has done this buit if not its worth a try.
Buy about 100 boxes of the metal sparkelers. They MUST be metal. This should be enough to fill a coffe can tight. Wrap the entire thing in duct tape. True aluminum DUCT tape works best. Poke a hole in the can only large enough for a single sparkler.
Stick one into the hole about 1/4 the way down. Set the can down, light the top sparkler and RUN.
We put a hole in an asphalt road at least 3 feet around and 10 inches deap.
You can also have a good time with dry ice, water, tape, and a plastic pop bottle.
Now tha ATF is gonna be knockin on my door tomorow.

oh well they cant be any worse then the billings cops.

One time I was 'kidnapped' by friends and taken to a remote field to witness their latest nefarious device in action. We sat behind a plow 200 yards away and waited. And waited. Shit. So the two guys who built it start arguing about who checked the detonators and if the batteries were good, etc. Apparently they each assumed the other had checked the ignition. So we sat that for another half hour in the cold in case it blew before we reteated. I think they went back the next day and detonated it later.

What do you use the tape for? We just fill the bottle up with dry ice and water, screw the cap on and throw it...
Makes a lot of noise, but the damage is minimal

Pyrodex.
Blew up a porta-john with a 1/4 pound of the stuff. I'm glad we were a WAYS away when that happened. Shit was everywhere and we couldn't stop laughing. Absolutely hilarious.

You gotta watch out when buying powder and fuse nowadays. Since 9/11 it has been heavily monitered. Its a bad deal if you get caught making home made explosives... terrorism

Yeah, they make it difficult nowadays to be a kid that's not sissified by overprotective parents who put off kids for the sake of their careers and are now old enough to be grandparents. The good thing is my little nephew is going to be able to kick nearly every kids' ass when he's older.

Have you ever filled a tennis ball with match heads cut off of strike-anywhere matches? Then sealed it up really tight with duct tape? You can throw the ball really hard at something and ignite the contents, but the pressure won't do much until it reaches a high enough level to tear through the ball and tape...

Sounds cool. Very clever. What's it like when it blows?
I wasn't so much into pyro myself, but I did make a torture chamber for those pink muscle men wrestlers and one of the things was the hairspray flame thrower. I had a few hundred a friend gave me dirt cheap and I had nothing else to do with them. When they burned they would stretch out into black charcoal.

I've been thinking about making a spud launcer battery (multiple turrets). I could use tennis balls and fill them with match heads though, neat idea.

It just kind of blows apart and flaming pieces of duct tape and tennis ball go flying over about a 6-foot radius.
You can also take an empty soda can and fill it with regular match heads. An old R/C car and remote can be combined with some appropriately sized wire and batteries to fashion a remote detonator. Wrap the thinnest wire around the head of one match that's packed tightly among all the others, and use that packing tape with the nylon threads in it to tighten the whole thing up. You need to stand
very far away when you detonate it, though.
Another thing that's kind of fun, and relatively safe, is to make matchstick rockets. If you wrap the head of a match in aluminum foil but make passages for the gas to escape down towards the tail of the matchstick, you basically create a small solid-fuel rocket. You can bend a paperclip into a launcher and heat the underside of the aluminum foil with another match until the fuel ignites. It's a real challenge to get these balanced and stuff.
Or just use rubber bands to fire strike-anywhere matches at a concrete wall.

Me and a buddy took a bunch of Piccilo Petes and and took the powder out and filled the bottom 3rd of a 2 liter pepsi bottle. Then we took another 8-10 P.P. and if you crush them at the bottom they'll explode instead of whistle. We fused them together and put them in the bottle too. It was the 4th and we went to a popular spot that's on top of a concrete water reseviour up on a hilltop called Collage Hill in Eugene OR. My buddy went to light it off and he lit the fuse turned around took one step and it blew up. He flew probably 10 feet threw the air, no joke! Luckily he wasn't hurt but he couldn't hear very good for like 3 days. It sounded like a 3/4 stick and actually scarred the concretevabout an inch deep.

A few angry fathers came after us and it almost turned physical. People were very, very irrate. It was great. Now that I have kids I understand why the dads were soooo pissed though.

I swear by brake cleaner now. It could have possibly saved my life today!!!
Here's what I killed in my garage today:
I just saw it on its web on my garage door and doused it with brake cleaner. Not till I saw it dangling dead from its web did I see what it really was!!!!

Ya, I grew up with Black Widows. They're pretty crazy. My great grandpa used to catch the males and put them in glass jars with each other and watch 'em fight. Then when he got bored he'd put a female in and it would kill the male.

The world is going crazy, yesterday I bought fuel injector cleaner and got carded. When i asked about it they were like you have to be over 18 to buy it. Not a problem for me as im 21, but still. Soo many things that were fine when we were younger are now high risk. Super glue, rubber cement, model paints, fuel injector cleaner to name a few items. And now, freshmen at my school university of colorado at boulder have to take an alcohol education class. Oh yeah, at my highschool in nebraska, dodgeball was outlawed, my favorite sport, you believe that shit?

Man, I'll never know how you people can live down there with all those creepy things.
I thought the black widow was rarely fatal to healthy adults (just hurt like a sumbitch).
