I just met Alice Cooper!

No shit, I was eating lunch at a chinese place at a local shopping mall and this guy walks in with a girl of about 19 or so (daughter?). I took one look at him and it dawned on me. Holy shit, that's Alice freaking Cooper! A couple of my friends happened to be walking by, one of which is a big Alice Cooper fan. I left my stuff and went after them. I asked the one friend to go have a discrete look. He came back and said "Oh yeah, that's him alright." So we went down to get an autograph and he graciously signed my Stephen King book - The Wasteland. Meanwhile, some people overheard us talking and then all of a sudden there was about 8 or 9 people getting his autographs. I had a chance to converse with him and he said he met Stephen King and loved one of his movies, I forget which one. I told him that I liked his movies too but that movies never do justice to books. He agreed, I shook his hand and let him get on with lunch. WHAT A TRIP!!!

Nice! That guy's a maniac. There aren't too many celebrities I'd care to talk to, but he seems pretty cool. I wouldn't mind meeting Steven Tyler (what the hell I've met Kramer and Hamilton). I would've loved to been able to talk to Frank Zappa, but I guess that won't happen any time soon.

No shit!!! Too bad this all didn't happen at KFC, then it would have been hilarious (if you know any Alice Cooper history, that should crack you up  )

My father used to have an old vinyl of School's Out (a song you may have heard, Hardy) and the cover opened like a desk and had fold out legs. I always thought that was pretty cool. Dead Babies is probably my favorite song of his, although I don't know all of them.

He's been around since the early seventies. It's that gosh darn rock and roll music. He didn't do death metal - death metal was started by a band called ... get ready ... Death. I saw them in concert at the only club I could go to when I was under 18. It was awesome because I used to bring this folding screwdriver set I could use to hit someone with (a lot of skinhead assmonkeys around there) and when they frisked me I would tell them I was just working on my car and forgot that wa in there and they always let me go in with it. The moshpits were insane until people started whipping chains and shit. That was before anyone really did that, but now they have mosh pits for Britney Spears and shit.

The lead singer (growler) of Death, Chuck Shuldiner, just died of cancer a few years ago. Death metal is the noise where the 'singers' growl incoherently over blasting metal guitar and drums. A few bands I've seen: Cannibal Corpse, Anal Cunt, Brutal Truth, Demolition Hammer, and Pestilence.

They all pretty much sounded the same.

School's Out
( Alice Cooper )

Well, we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well, we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks

Well, we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes

School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces

No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
Out for summer
Out 'til fall
We might not go back at all

School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

Actually, Alice Cooper was first around in the 70's. Death metal? Not even close.

His official site:

http://www.alicecooper.com/

I was never a huge fan but it was nice to meet him. His hits were School's out, Welcome to my nightmare, Poison, I'm Eighteen, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Billion Dollar Babies, and a couple others.

Lines form on my face and hands
Lines form from the ups and downs
I'm in the middle without any plans
I'm a boy and I'm a man

I'm eighteen
And I don't know what I want
Eighteen
I just don't know what I want
Eighteen
I gotta get away
I gotta get out of this place
I'll go runnin in outer space
Oh yeah

I got a baby's brain and an old man's heart
Took eighteen years to get this far
Don't always know what I'm talkin' about
Feels like I'm livin in the middle of doubt

Cause I'm
Eighteen
I get confused every day
Eighteen
I just don't know what to say
Eighteen
I gotta get away

Lines form on my face and my hands
Lines form on the left and right
I'm in the middle
The middle of life
I'm a boy and I'm a man
I'm eighteen and I LIKE IT
Yes I like it
Oh I like it
Love it
Like it
Love it
Eighteen!
Eighteen!
Eighteen!
Eighteen and I LIKE IT
