I have done nothing but power mods basically, all in the form of quick power, not internal improvement.

To start with.

$300 base wagon, burnt valve.

Immediately put in:
Radiator.
Speedo cable base.
brake pads and new stock front rotors.
Rebuilt heads.
used altenator and start.
used headlight.
used front driver seat.
Lightweight underdrive pulley.

With all this, I managed a best of 16.8 at 90 mph or so.

Then,
Pulled motor and put in a new clutch (stock) and new rings.
New "good" tires.

This managed to get me 30 mph on the freeway, but only a best of 16.6 at the track.

Then I started the Ebay to Hell route.

A few nitrous systems. Currently only set up for a single stage but have everyting for a duel stage except another fuel solenoid.

The supercharger and all the damn parts it took to install. Alot of the parts where relegated to R&D parts as I would use them and then realize they were outright wrong, not the right part, or not needed.

I have yet to spend a dime on handleing. And I suffer for it. I cant do crap around corners. But I do have fun in the straight line.

I need to do the TB bypass mod.. anyone know where i can find a writeup on that? i've searched the boards here and there, and not come up with anything really helpful...
My mods are all removing/replacing things:

custom smoked heads/tails/corners
removed blinkers in facia, replaced with fogs, and running light LEDs as blinkers now
removed side trim (molding) replaced with duct tape
cheap-ass LesSchwab tires.
KYB GR2s
3 stereos, none work. no deck in now.
replaced ICU(illumination control)
5 sets of 9004 bulbs.. still didn't like any of 'em --using sylvanias now.
A/C don't work.
rebuilt alt, replaced belt
optima red-top
Dual (best buy house brand) speakers(4x)
De-snorkified intake(took a whole buncha stuff out.)
oh, almost forgot! My muffler!! V-Power Power1 Dual Tip muffler (sounds mean)

COMING SOON:
Timing Belt
K&N Cone filter/Panel filter (yes, AND panel filter)
Pulleys
TB bypass (?)
Stereo/speaker fixing
wiring fixing(best buy fucked it up)
Amp/sub
interior mods(wrx stuff)
04WRX shifter, if i can get it to fit
04 wrx rear endlinks, again, if fit.

I'm fuckin' lost.... even laurel said i should sell the car. damn.. need a better job for car. College is overrated.

mods on my 1990 legacy:

replaced the four wheels it came with (all were different tires and/or rims) with four steelies from a Jetta.

replaced the screwdriver in the steering column with an ignition switch.

added a Thule roof rack with nice solid Al 6064 bars.

most recently: added a valid license plate. :-)

These probably aren't really mods, just necessary changes over the previous owner's.

Yea... I'd like to go clear all the way across (well actually Id like to see someone else who's done it first, then decide :P), and maybe get the solid black piece for over the trunk section. You're legally required to have the red reflectors in the back tho, right?

Posted: Sun Oct 02, 2005 8:32 am
by jake15
Yeah, the red part isn't removeable, so you'll have a fun time making those clear. i'm not sure on the legality of making it clear, but i know they have to be red either way.

Wow, I'm suprised so many of you are missing the rack bushings. I doubt there is a bigger performance gain that can be had for 30 bones. The shifter bushing is another cheap one that makes a nice difference. The wagon tails are de-orangable too.
