Maximum Offset?

What is the maximum recomended offset to prevent excessive stress on the wheel bearings?
I am getting my car "performance aligned" tomorrow, and we are going to test fit my buddies wheels onto my car. Were going to find out what Rim width, offset, and tire width will clear the SS. I want to make sure that what does fit, isn't going to risk damage to the wheel bearings.
I might roll the fenders tomorrow too, I haven't decided yet.

Sweet Phil! I need a performance alignment too.
I'll be interested in what you find out about fitment issues. IIRC you'll need to stay between +45 and +55. I think Tirerack says to stay between +48 and +55 but I don't remember for sure.
If you're rolling your fenders then you may be able to get away with a little more but I'm not sure how the wheel bearing will take to it.

It's directly related to the wheel width, and nothing else. If you have 5inch wheels the offset is going to be much larger than say 8 inch wheels

Do you mean minimum offset?
Lower offsets will stick out more. And you're unlikely to find wheels with higher offsets than stock.
What kind of wheels does your buddy have?

That's very true. I was generalizing. Here's the standard for most new generation Subarus.
Width .... Offset
6.5" ....... +53 to +55
7.0" ....... +50 to +53
7.5" ....... +47 to +50
8.0" ....... +43 to +47

17x7.5" wheels are what we are fitting with 225 width Falken Azenis tires. I don't know which rims they are, but they are +48 I think.
We'll find out.
I'll write down all of my alignment settings before and after so you guys can see it. I'm really excited about it
The guy that is helping me built his own alignment rack, and has been road racing for years
