Hubs & backing plates

Curious if the backing plates on the rear hubs can be taken off easily?

I'd sort of prefer to use the ones on my car rather then the donor. Plus I accidently banged on one of the studs, and the tip of the threads is a little marred. I'd like to knock out of the studs on mine to use it.

Is swapping the backing plates and or changing studs something I'll need a press for, or do I just have to take apart the parking brake stuff?

Thanks

You'll just have to take apart the parking brake stuff. I talked about the same things when I had a stripped wheel stud. I even think there's a thread about it. Basically you've got to take it all apart so you can move the ABS (tone?) ring far enough away so you can smack the stud out.

Thanks brian,

I'll see if I can find your thread.

So it can be done without pressing the hub out? That's my main concern. Guess I'll be doing that this week.
