Why do so many people like this sound so much?

They think it's the sound of power I guess.

It announces to the whole world that you have turbo. Why the hell would you want anyone to underestimate you????

Yup, for me anyway, around here, very few turbo's, so a nice phsssssssst sound cocks a few heads to the left. or right. I'm down with that.

I actually preffer the sound of my exhaust when im downshifting. When i put my AWIC i dont think i'll put a BoV in. Although it does sound cool, i think i'd get tired of the sound.

Yep :).

Also makes me feel like I'm in a rally car when I downshift.

That's part of the reason that was an unexpected side effect. When I am downshifting, it's an audible note that the revs jumped enough for heel-toe shifts. Before, I had to go by exhaust note, or glance at the tach. Now, I can just listen to the exhaust and the tone of the BOV (since it's less sedate than the exhaust).

Plus, it turns heads. I thought it would get annoying, but it hasn't. I can't see it getting annoying.

When I installed my Saab IC today, I realized that I had no place for the stock BOV to recirc to, so I left it atmospheric. It's fun :D

Why don't you have a place to recirc to? What's wrong with the stock spot?

Running the stock valve atmospheric, THAT will cause lots of problems.

The stock spot? The piping from the turbo outlet to the throttle body gets replaced when you do the intercooler, and due to my lack of foresight, I didn't get a bung welded onto my hard line.

I don't seem to have any issues, because it's a 4EAT and it doesn't blow off between shifts. I havn't noticed any leaking issue under boost (awaiting my boost gauge though). It's just temporary, as I'm looking to get some custom hoses made, since I am not too happy with the uglyness of my current install. More to come on that later though.

Uh, your valve isn't running atmospheric. It's just being a vacuum leak before the compressor inlet at idle. :)

Remember, the valve is supposed to relieve pressure at the compressor outlet. You left the compressor inlet side connected, and the outlet side disconnected.

You do still have a spot for it to recirculate to. You just don't have a spot for it to blow off from. :)

With a 4EAT it's not as much of a big deal, but if you do ever shut the throttle quickly when making any boost at all you will cause compressor surge.

How does your car idle at all? That's what I don't get...

Leaks before the throttle plate are a lot less problematic than leaks after the throttle plate.

Hmmm. Good point vrg3. I guess I need to find a 3/4" hose bung now. But oddly enough it idles better than when I had the cracked turbo outlet on.

When I ran mine un recirc'd for a day it barely idle'd didn't get any low end power (add the cel 22 in to that as well) and just ran overall shittily.

but boy o did it sound killer when I let off the gas
