Those are the best pictures of an impreza WRC engine bay I have ever seen! Thanks!!
If I was there, I might have barred myself inside and refused to come out until they let me take it for a spin.

Holy crap, that's the craziest air intake I've ever seen! It looks like a tmic. I was really confused for about half a second, I was like, front mount....ok, top mount.....huh? Hehe

So did they have the other cars there or just the legacies?
I went to the one in houston, and it was a lot of fun. The legacy is a pretty good driving car!

OK..... u guys are getting me excited. I'm going to the one in Miami, but it isn't until mid september.
Did you get to drive any other cars besides the Outbacks? What kind of course was it on? etc...etc...

There are two different things, one is a Legacy GT vs Volvo s60/v70 (i think) vs BMW 325i or something. The other is the Outback vs Volvo s60/v70. On the sub/volv/bmw event you get to drive a performance, traction, and handling course. On the sub/volv event you only get the performance and traction courses. The performance course tests the accelleration, brakes, and turning ability. The traction tests traction in different situation, plain pavement, sand, and bumpy. The handling tests how the three cars handle differently, FWD vs RWD vs AWD. We were only invited to the outback event, which was kinda lame because we got there early enough to see the handling course which was pretty much a mini autocross. We each got to drive a 3.0R Sedan, 3.0 LL Bean, 2.5xt wagon, another 3.0 wagon, and another 2.5xt wagon, also a volvo s60 and v70 which were were supposed to compare them to. Personally after driving them, I much rather prefere the way the torque feels in my car than any of them. I know it's not producing nearly as much, nor is it nearly as fast, but this is a classic case of how a torque curve can make things feel different. They all felt sluggish to me. And without having driven an auto in a couple months and not using any left foot braking for half the course, I can see why people don't like them. That's not to say given about an hour or so to get in tune with the tcu I wouldnt have liked it better

I also didnt care for the s60, it felt WAY too cramped. And the visibilty was poor. The sun roof on the outback wagons is HUGE! It was a fun event. I wanted to take more pictures and talk to the reps more, but we were pressed for time :\, but all in all it was cool Met some cool people, and was worth the trip, even though we got lost a few times

Yeah, we had directions that gave us roads that didn't exist anymore. hahaha
In the pictures of Solburgs car you'll notice:
the intercooler is were the radiator usually is, and the vent behind it feeds down to two fans that are the radiator fans. The radiator is in the bumper! The air filter is were the top mount intercooler would be. The turbo sits sideways to get fed by the air filter. It was the funkiest setup I'd ever seen. I bet it works SUPER well though.
I can see how slamming that on the ground would cause his car to have overheating problems though.

You guys do notice that the throttle body is on the FRONT of the manifold, right?
That's a friggin GENIUS idea to have the Throttle Body on the front of the manifold. Hmm... Makes a front mount really really easy...
Kelley should offer a reversed manifold

You can reverse your stock manifold. The mounting flanges are symmetrical.

THeres quite a few people with reversed manifolds out there, but did you notice where the alternator is with the manifold backwards? I shouldve taken a picture of that.

I'll have to look and see if I have a picture of the alternator with my shots.

The only thing I don't like is the sharp bend the intercooler pipe makes infront of the throttle body.
