Muffler has a huge hole in it and rattles like hell. I have an N/A 2.2 '90 Legacy. I was wondering if I should go straight pipe or new muffler. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you talking about scabbing just a new muffler on? There is about an inch of pipe then it 45's off, not much to work with. I'm thinking about just hacking the dam thing off.

Flowmaster on the Ramcharger works very well.

I have a Flowmaster 40 series delta flow on my 1990 NA... It was $100 installed.

Look at this thread and click on link #2.... There are a few parts in that movie that have the sound of the car... Fell free to look at both vids...

My 94 Turbo was way to loud with a straight pipe (hacked stock muffler).

Just get a replacement. Go to a junkyard if you have to, BC/BF's pop up all over the place. Buy the axle-back off of a front-ender.

i have a 90 fwd.

what i did was have a friend hack off from behind the y. the expand up to 2.25 and a resonator where the secondary non sensored cat was. it is a 12" resonator. then straight all the way back. that was too loud. it set off car alarms. and it lost a little bottom end throttle response but had better top end. so we put a second 12" resonator where the muffler was and it sounds great.

when i fired it up at the first rallyx w/the new set up my friend mark utecht though someone had gotten into his GN WRX. it sounds very similar. i like it alot. very aggressive. and if you dont really "get on it" it isnt too loud.

Hehe, I set off car alarms now sometimes. It's pretty sweet. Not THAT loud though. Just sensitive alarms.

I'm probably still within legal limits.... maybe?

that is the beauty of living in a state w/no one in it. they dont care if you are too loud. my new neighbors who live above my new garage may not be so appreciative of my awesome car ao i will have to quit doing my start up blip of the throttle at least late at night or early in the morning.

yeah, when i first put my muffler on, i set off car alarms on auto row.. nice sound.. nothing i've heard sounds close to what i have.. not even wrxs... perhaps if i meet some of you folks one of these days, you could hear it, but most likely not until i get it put onto the new 92...
