Legacy 2.5GT brakes...

Just thought everyone would like to know an interesting little bit of info.
The Legacy 2.5GT brakes are cool
12.3" vented fronts. 11.3" vented rears. Require a 17" wheel.
I'm getting a price on the whole kit-and-caboodle as we speak. That setup hauls the GT to a stop rather quickly, so imagine what it would do for our lighter weight car.
Just thought you might all be interested.

That's what I said! I was helping my buddy (the guy I bought the tires off of) bleed his brakes (he boiled the fluid ALREADY at an auto-X, lol).
The whole setup is georgous. The rear rotors aren't as thick as ours are though, but they ARE vented.
They are monstorous. He's got a set of 17x7.5 +48 5Zigen rims, and they barely clear the spokes, and the rotor fills the whole visible area of the wheel. It's so sexy, holy cow.
If I had the money, this is the brake upgrade to do! Imagine the stopping power, and fade resistance!

Are you talking about the new Legacy GT? The old Legacy GT's all came with 16's so...

The old GTs came with smaller front rotors than the Turbos, which makes me a little mad. I have WRX front brakes on my BF!

smaller? that's bs. You have your old brakes, so you can take your WRX front's to the new car?

Be prepared to fork out a crapload of coin I'd guess...
New car, it'll be awhile til parts show up for fair prices.

Yea, I'm gonna try to see what kind of deals there are out there to be made.
Might be able to swing them for not much more than a new set of WRX brakes from the dealer (which would STILL cost in the $1000 to $1500 range for all 4 corners). Not that I could afford it, but just to get some general ideas on how much.

Josh: I don't have my old OE brakes. I'm not planning on moving them over to the new car, i think i'll get another set instead of putting the smaller than stock GT ones on the BF.
The BE GT had 10.7" front rotors, just like the 2.5RS, iirc. WRX/OB are 11.3", Turbo are 10/9".
I wonder if the 12.3" would fit the Rotas.

Yea, the 12.3's SHOULD fit under most Rota's.
I'll test fit my rims on my buddies 2.5GT and make sure.
If they fit under his 48mm offset 5Zigen's, then they SHOULD fit under most 48mm offset Rota's.

Mmm. Someone find out the details behind all this, A 2.5GT brake swap sounds interesting.

No details to get behind. It would be a direct swap over (the brackets look the same as ours).
It'd be just like swapping the WRX brakes over. You need calipers, brackets, rotors, and pads. SHOULD bolt right up?

Actually.....you may want to double check. I've heard they changed some things on the new legacy. So you should verify the caliper brackets bolt up to the hubs.

I'll check when I go to my buddies house to test fit the Rotas on his car. We will figure it allll out and see.
