Thicker Headgasket for NA to Turbo?

Or should I say supercharger?

Can I order a thicker copper headgasket that reduces my compression ratio to 8-1 or so, instead of purchasing turbo pistons? Yes I know this is that wussy stupid way out, but would it work? and is it possible? I know I can get custom copper headgaskets, and I believe the stock pistons would hold up if treated right (unlike how I previously treated them).

Worst case scenario, I spend the $1000 and get the whole shebang from

and hope the are on the up and up.

For a grand you could get a turbo engine. I do remember seeing thicker HGs somewhere, but bringing 9.5 down to 8.0 might require something excessive.

Apparently some old Saab turbos used head gaskets to control compression ratio. The turbo models had thicker gaskets than the non-turbo models. The standard procedure when doing a head gasket job on the non-turbos was to mill the head flat again and then use a turbo gasket to maintain the proper compression ratio.

don't go copper headgaskets.....you'll have nothing but problems.
