Breaking in a new short block???

So what's your method? The short block has 0 miles on it. Do you take the idle for 10 min, then 2K for 10 min, then drive lightly? Or to you take the idle till warm, then run hard? This is usually a major debate.

I never had to break in a subaru engine before. My WRX had 10 miles on it when new, but I think the factory breaks in the engines before you take ownership? I might just warm it up, drive it keeping out of major boost and under 4K.

I'd keep it out of all boost and under 4k. Just take it EASY on the block.

Let it idle up to full operating temp.

Then, I think someone mentioned going to 35mph or so then engine braking down to like 5 mph about 10 times, so you can break in the piston rings.

Where did you get an EJ22T block with 0 miles? SOA only has a few. Did you get a block from Axxis or somewheres? Is EVERYTHING new?
