you can get a 5spd FWD. They were readily available in the legacies. Just search around for a FWD 5spd.

i found a 92 legacy 5mt could i use that or does it have to be 91 ? im still alittle confused about the awd thing cuz if i find the tranny for my car would it still be awd or did they acually manufacture fwd trannys for the legacy?

fwd tranny's were made for almost all models of subaru's from 1969-1997 Legacy included. That said you can use any fwd tranny from any legacy impreza or svx if you so desired.

umm.. i have one that's in ok condition, that i'm willing to let go for less than cheap.. but you'd have to come get it, or something, cause you're in georgia, and i'm in washington.. otherwise, i'd let you have it. Mine is a 91 FWD 5MT. I can tell you that any tranny that old will definitly have some bushing problems, and most certainly will need the synchros looked at. Just get as much info as you can on the trannys first, and then make a decision..
