There are a bunch of guys laying pipe outside my house....

Literally

We have a "sewer improvement" plan in my neighborhood in which they're basically going to dig up all the old sewer pipes and replace them. They've been doing it for the past 6 months, really, but they just now got to my corner (the hurricanes held them back).

What does that mean? For one, it means that my street will probably be a big hole in the ground for the next 2 days, so I will probably have to park my car down the street and walk home, but tonight it means that they have a sewer pump that probably puts out about 80dec of sound and its sitting no more than 100 feet from my bedroom window. It's going to be running all night.

What puts the icing on the cake, though, is that NONE of this will benefit me in any way, shape, or form. I'm on septic tank   :x

Don't feel too bad. . .

There's been a set of five duplexes going in RIGHT next to my apartment building. All I've heard starting at 7am every morning for the last five months is air nailers and hammers swinging away.

Mind you. . . with my work schedule, I typically don't wake up until 9:00 or 10:00 am.

I have the EXACT SAME THING going on this week. Laying new wire. Pain in the ass. got woken up at 5 to the sound of the road being busted open. I was psyched.

My freshman year of college, the dumpster for my dorm was right outside the window of my dorm room. The garbage truck would come every other morning at like 5:00 am to load up the trash, and the dude would leave it in reverse as he got out of the truck and took the 15 minutes to set everything up.

He musta had something against college students...

Yeah I just ripped the air dam off my BMW 325is this weekend, only a couple weeks from putting it away for the winter. I hooked an exposed sewer cap where they were doing pavement grinding, there were NO warning signs and the cap stuck up at least 4", I avoided it with my wheels by centering on it. I think my air dam costs more than the wheels so maybe that was a bad move.

vrg3, that's funny about the dumpster, I had the exact same problem in college, one dump a week, Sunday morning at 5-6 AM. I always thought that was a real strange time to do the work but there were probably no blocking cars at that hour. It really sucked.

oh, and I read some of your website this morning, it was funny to read the Coke article, having one open on my desk at 8 AM as I did so...

Jeez. You'd think they could at least put yellow paint on the front of the caps.

Yeah, I think it's convenient for them to do it when the rest of the world is trying to sleep. :)

Hehe, yeah, my brother always includes a Diet Coke in his breakfast which is why I mirrored the article.

I have construction outside my window starting at 6:30 each weekday. I also get the noise from a loading dock next door, which goes late after the construction lets off.

"Damn college kids, what are they going to school for??? I only have an 8th grade education, and look where I am now!!"

Wasn't too bad, didn't sleep as well as I normally do though...

I would have made it a point to pee out the window every morning at 5am.

Yep, as I figured, I have to have my car out of the driveway by 7am tomorrow, and since I'm just getting to sleep about that time , I'm gonna park it on the street tonight...
