JDM AWIC into stock NA, with picture now

Not impossible but not easy. First off, you have to find a place for the radiator. Second, the pump (I stuck mine into the area wherre the AC compressor used to be, and finally, jamb the AWIC into the area where it needs to be jambed.
My radiator I stuck down into the lower left of the radiator area. The pump into the empty AC compressor area. For the AWIC I had to remove and relocate the thingamajic (the power for the plugs) and relocate some wiring and small piping.
And this was all on test fit mode. Hopefully tommorrow by noon it will all be running.

Use the AC radiator for your heat exchanger!
Someone else did it and said it worked real well.

Yeah, I think the A/C condenser could make a good radiator.
I wonder if it would be work well to find a crank-driven pump for the water, and have it use the A/C belt... That'd be kind of cool.

hmm, NICE idea vrg3!!! I never thougth of that. It would also be rpm based, so that when you are going full throttle it would be pumping full speed as well. Cool thought, but I like my AC too much to try it.

Well, full throttle doesn't mean high RPM... But depending on how the pump is designed, flow doesn't have to be dependent on RPM. The power steering pump, for example, has some clever valving that helps keep steering assist relatively constant.
Actually, though, now that I think about it, you probably wouldn't want to drive the pump off the crank. If you do, it'll pose a parasitic load on the engine at all times. Kinda like the electric fan vs. crank-driven fan issue.

Well, its in. Wasnt that hard after all. Took about 1 hour to install and 1 hour to have a custom pipe made and modified from the SC to the bottom of the intercooler.
Total time to install was less than four hours, including prep, driving around and gettting parts, and actual install.
cost was:
AWIC, Pump and Radiator = $250 Thanks Brian!
formed hoses and clamps = $40
Muffler shop pipe = $20
I dont have a resevoir yet so am just running the water that is in the system only for now,
I lost about 1 to 1.5 psi of boost due to the constriction.
Everything works and works well but now I have less power than I previously did. UP THAT BOOST!

Yeah, pics please. I'm especially interested in seeing how the AWIC fits. I've never seen one in person on a Legacy. One day Iwill have a turbo and I think the AWIC makes more sense.
I don't think you lost the pressure due to constriction, I think you lost it because your air shrank !! If you lose 50 degrees F on your charge temp your air will shrink almost 10%, which at 22 psi (total not gage) would be around 2 psi "lost". The air is all there its just smaller !

Valid point about the condensed air! I will take that into consideration as part of the lower psi. But I don't think it is (I wish it was) capable of lowering the boost from 12 to 8. Most likely a combination of the two. When I have the money I am going to have a much nicer intake made and we will see what that produces.

I'm a big fan of my AWIC. Not too hard to install, works great. The best part is it looks stock because it belongs there. Only a Legacy SS fan would know. I think with a work you could keep the A/C, maybe bend the A/C lines a little. I'm running the A/C condenser for the water, works fine. If I had wanted to keep the A/C I would have used a tranny cooler it front of the condenser. That would give you plenty of cooling for the water.
I'd do it with a turbo, use the stock turbo to IC pipe. Everything just fits.
The only other thing is the coolant tank that will break. I've seen some made so they fit with an IC. I put mine where the A/C pump used to be, just make sure it's above the turbo.
I also had the idea of a newer intake manifold, the ones that have the tank on the right side and the straight into the turbo intake. Does anyone know if the bolt patern is the same? I'm not talking US WRX.
