it doesnt fit otherwise, cables are too short.

Getting a new box would be so expensive....and id have to drive all the way to the store....

Is that a hard drive underneath the CD-ROM drive? If so, you might want to mount it. I used to leave my hard drives lying like that, and it worked fine in the olden days of slow hard drives, but these days leaving them unmounted often kills them early due to vibration.

That dvd rom drive doesn't see much use- only to read off dvds i burn. Besides, i got it for free, my dad works at western digital :)

But yea, you do have a point.

Your dad works for Western Digital!?!?!? I think i just found something I need in trade for those brakes :)

You oughta see my computer setup. I have 6 of them in my living room, and 3 in my bedroom. They're all in their cases tho.

lol, you should have seen a computer of my friend's at school. It didn't have a box. His motherboard sat on top of his hutch, and other peices were spread to different areas of his desk and tucked away into different places. I asked him if he ever had a problem with electricity or worried about spilling a drink. He said that he just was very careful and just hadn't ever bought another case. Worked fine, so he wasn't in a rush to change his setup. It was his linux server as well.

Not sure I'd trust my "server" to the "elements," though.

nice. I'm surprised the cables don't reach though.
I went caseless this summer and bolted a dual-amd motherboard right to the vertical bookshelf beams. The powersupply is mounted to the bottom of the shelf above it, and the drives are all in four minimalist alum. brackets for cooling and to cut vibration. This was all done after the 5v pins on the connector from the power supply to the motherboard melted the insulation around them. I'll look for a photo.
