Hey all, I need new struts for my '93 Turbo Legacy Sedan, and I wanted to come to you for advice.

I want to replace the struts with KYB GR-2's. I'd love AGX's, but they're almost twice the price. In addition to replacing the struts, I'd like to get some lowering springs. I want a very modest lowering, something like 1" front and rear.

So I went over to tirerack.com. They have GR-2's for $58 each. a total of $232 for all 4 struts.

While browsing, I noticed they have a cheap set of H&R Sport Springs for $218. (I can't tell if this includes all 4 springs. It says "Front and Rear Fit" but I dont know if they mean the 2 springs will fit either front or rear... or it includes all 4 springs).

Would you guys think this is a good deal? If it indeed comes with all 4 springs, that's a whole new set of struts and springs for a total of $450. I'm VERY much budget conscious here.

I'm pretty much set on the GR-2's, but I have no problem going elsewhere for springs. What used springs can I look for to fit my car? Would WRX springs fit? Imprezza springs? What could I go for to get my desired ~1" lowering?

For ease of future modding ability I would find some used WRX wagon (or sedan) springs on e-bay or Nasioc. Then get some WRX Kyb's, which you might be able to find used, also. With the spring/strut combo it will bolt right into your car.

If you get the sedan springs you will have a tad more understeer with softer rear springs, but nothing that actually hurts the handling of the car. Just be more careful with weight transfer and you will be fine. (Or get some rear postive camber like me )

So stock WRX Spring/Strut combos will fit on my car? What about ride height?

Also, are you telling me the WRX Wagon rear is a bit stiffer? Does that alter height at all?

Will the tops on the WRX Strut/Spring combo work as well? As in its just a complete swap and done?

Run 2 degrees all around and you'll have all the camber you'll ever want.

I think the fronts will but the rears won't. You need 90-94 Legacy or 93-01 Impreza rear tops, so you could use all the stock tops, or your rear tops and the WRX fronts. Would using the old tops all around be all that bad with stock WRX struts/springs?

I'm also curious about how the WRX suspension will ride. From what I can find, it might be high in the front and low in the back, but not as bad if I use wagon springs.

Also, what's the deal with the Group N strut tops. I assume there are two different rear tops- one that fits our cars and one that fits WRXs?
Edit: Oh, I get it. We're talking about the GC mounts.
