New guy to the Board, need some parts..

Hi, Tom R., here. Subaru owner for the last 3 years, all BRATs. 1st was an '86, 2nd an '82, 3rd an '84. Working on buying another '86 to replace the other '86 I had to scrap do to rust out problems.

Refered here by Josh, over on the BC BF site.

Anyways, I'm doing some serious modding to my '82, and find myself in need of 2 Legacy 4.11 rear diffs for under it. Anyone here have one or two they want to sell?

I'm located in the extreme Southern part of Michigan, and can do a road trip to Wi, Il, Oh, In, to pick 'em up. If any of you have one to sell, or would be willing to make a yard run to get me one, I would really appreciate it. Found a couple doing a web search, but $150.00 each, plus shipping from Va, Pa, Tx, and the likes, scares me...

I've posted an asking on this to J-Money's post in the Market Place, so got that one covered.

If you visit subarubrat.com and check out Scott's BRAT, you'll see what I'm modeling mine after. Won't be a carbon copy of his, but it'll be close enough to be it's twin.

Doing a 12" lift, 30 - 31" tires, Nissan T-case, EA-82 power steering set up, custom exhaust, custom bumpers, possible Dual "A"- Arm front suspension set up. All done by me, myself and I. Really want to do the 4.11 diffs to help off-set tire size increase. D'OH!! Forgot to mention the ER-27 XT-6 engine and D/R 5 speed tranny going in there too.

Sorry, getting carried away here.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Just to do something different with a vehicle that not to many people in these parts have ever seen, let alone own/drive one.

Been told by some of those Ford/Chevy/Dodge guys, that I'm wasting my time/money doing "anythin" with a Subaru. HA!!! Boys just don't know what they're up against, now do they?!?

Bought the "82, 2 years ago for $300.00, sight unseen, from a guy in central Illinois. Got it home, played with it a bit, got it running right. Had fun doing that, 'cause it had an EA-82 engine, 'stead of the EA-81. PO to him had done the swap, but failed to do some things the right way.

Made my own dual 2" exhaust system, slapped on a Weber carb, and off we went. Now,,,,, I just want to build her up the right way. The way Subaru should have done, in the 1st place. No dissing of Subaru meant here...

Plans in the works are as follows;
ER-27 MPFI engine, (got it)
D/R 5 speed Tranny, (got it)
Nissan Transfercase, (got it)
Front/Rear mounted 4.11 diffs, (in need of)
Toyota 6-lug rims to fit re-drilled hubs, (got it)
Rear disc brake conversion, (Still need those parts)
12" lift, custom build here, have steel, (need time to do)
EA-82 power steering instalation, minor fab work to do, (got it)
30 - 31" Goodyear BFE, or Wrangler AT's all-'round
On-board air, via A/C compressor of Xt-6 engine (it's there)

Still on the drawing board Mods;
Custom built dual exhaust,
rear mounted radiator
re-located gas tank
custom built "DUAL" "A"-Arm" & "Coil-over shock" front suspension
possible solid axle under rear, just 'pends on what I find along the way
maybe custom 4-link rear suspension, if I don't go the solid, or find the 4.11's I need. (hint, hint, hint, hint)

I have less than $800.00 wrapped up in this whole venture, from buying the '82, to getting the parts here that I have already, including buying the XT-6. I've had the '82 road legal, and have put 'round 4,000 miles on her, since I bought her. She's just beggin' for more. Gotta keep the BRAT, "Spoiled", don't ya know?!?

Somebody help me, I've done got me a way severe case of the Soob bug
:D :D :D

Please excuse this humble ones ranting....

I would be willing to make a junkyard run, but I'm in NY, so that may not help you. I know there are quite a few 4.111s in the yard I would go to.

NY rear diffs

$35.00 each, plus shipping??????????????????? Okay, $45.00 + shipping, no core here

You're pulling my leg, right????

If that's true, you need to get to the yard. I can Pay-Pal you the money for them come tomorrow, (Thursday). Be worth the shipping cost to me at that price.

Just wanted to post here that I have the 2 rear diffs now. :D :D

Kudo's got out to fishbone79 for his help in getting the diffs for me.

I'm totally happy with the cost of it all. I'm sure he's happy with his reward for helping me.

Thanks again, fishbone79...........................
